The Hurt Locker Named National Society of Film Critics' Best Picture


The Hurt Locker was chosen as 2009's best picture by the National Society of Film Critics.


Other awards won by the Iraqi war drama: best director (Kathryn Bigelow) and best actor (Jeremy Renner), the Los Angeles Times reports.


American Film Institute honors Hangover, Hurt Locker, Mad Men, Glee


The Hurt Locker's win marks a sweep of the three biggest critics awards as it was named best picture by New York Film Critics Circle and Los Angeles Film Critics Association last month.


The society voted Yolande Moreau of Seraphine as best actress and Mo'Nique as best supporting actress for Precious. Best supporting actor was split between Christoph Waltz for Inglourious Basterds and Paul Schneider for Bright Star.


The Coen brothers' A Serious Man won for best screenplay.
