We were lucky enough to have a chat with James Cameron about some little art film he's been making called Avatar this morning.
Our full interview with the big man will be going up on the site next week, but we thought we'd share an interesting snippet he said about Avatar sequels now.
Cameron has previously claimed he is not averse to making sequels, but the director told us today that Avatar has always been planned as part of a series of movies.
"Oh, this is definitely franchise material," he said. "That was the way we sold it to the studio, I told them that after we had created all the trees and creatures digitally for the first film, it will be a lot cheaper to make more movies based in this universe in the future."
Cameron revealed the he already has the plots of further movies in his head: "The sequels are definitely mapped out already." Although the first movie obviously needs to make serious money if these are going to see the light of day.
