ABC Drops 'Happy Town' (Again)

More sad news for 'Happy Town': The Live Feed is reporting ABC has yanked the low-rated midseason drama from its summer schedule, and will now burn off its final two episodes on a Saturday night in July.

According to the report, 'Happy Town' was averaging just 2.2 million viewers on Wednesday nights.

Next week, it will be replaced by the Jimmy Kimmel special 'Twilight Saga: Total Eclipse Of the Heart,' according to TV by the Numbers.

'Happy Town,' which was first pulled by ABC in May, premiered on Apr. 28 to dismal ratings, averaging just 5.2 million viewers and a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49. The following episode dipped to a 1.2 rating in the coveted demo, marking a 29 percent decrease.

Boo! I was actually getting into this show! I wonder if they will give it an ending or just randomly show 2 more episodes. I wish they'd give these shows a chance and stop yanking them right off the bat. I really like mystery shows where you have to think a little, but aparently that's too much for some people. We're lucky that Harper's Island was designed to only be 13 episodes because it actually had a chance to tie up loose ends...unlike Reunion :( and now Happy Town.

I agree with lisabella. My schedule throughout the week is pretty busy so I dvr the shows I'm interested in, and sometimes I don't get a chance to watch them until the week after they air, which doesn't count toward the rating. I hate when shows don't give a proper ending to tie up loose ends. I still think about Reunion sometimes and think about who did it. I wish they had just finished it up so I could go on with my life, not thinking about the show lol

ABC is officially turning into FOX in the sense it's cutting new shows to quickly to give them the chance to be amazing. I really was starting to get into Happy Town.

Ugh I hate ABC!!!@ lisabella3686 ... if you like mystery, maybe check out the new summer series Persons Unknown. Its no Happy Town (which I loved - awsome cast!) but its alright just the same.

This is infuriating, especially as the producers announced two weeks ago that the identity of the Magic Man would be revealed in episode 8.

I'm disgusted... this was turning into a great show... ABC should at least give us the first series before you cancel.

I agree with all the above. You put us on the edge of our seat then you pull it right out from under us. At least tie up the loose ends.ABC get it together.

no kidding. all they had to do was actually finish the season out, not just give it an episode that just makes me ask more questions. Its ridiculous. I kinda like this show. grrrrrr

that's a shame because i've been getting hooked on this show....it is true that not everyone can run home and watch the show on the date and time listed; I actually watch them online, so the percentage of those who follow and watch aren't accurate. But the big networks don't realize this and act too quickly on their bad decisions....

I agree also, it makes you not want to get into a show too much anymore just because it might be cancelled - no offence, but I am sick and tired of reality shows! Your entire viewing audience is not 19 year olds!

If the Al Kaida ever do another terrorist bombing, I sure hope ABC is on their nr.1 list. These incompetent imbeciles would not be missed. All they ever do is start a good show only to cancel it way too soon..mostly because they are not able to start a show at a decent time and day..and then they don't give it a chance to run long enough..AND of course their viewing numbers are mostly counted wrong...HELLOOO not everyone watches tv..some of us watch online..These people probably all did their internmanship by FOX.
