There's been some talk about which one among the Glee cast members will get a solo album first. Just when it felt that Lea Michele will get first dibs, it dawns on us: it's not her, it's Matthew Morrison.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, the guy we all know as Will Schuester--or maybe as the guy on Broadway's Hairspray and The Light in the Piazza, among others--confirmed that he will be working on his own album soon. "Right now, I've almost finalized a record deal and am going to be working on an album," he said.
"I would consider it a classier Justin Timberlake album," he added. "It's going to be me and a big orchestra, but also with beats."
So I smell some swinging beats with rapping? Not that JT rapped, but you know.
Morrison says the upcoming solo effort is just part of his master plan to make it big in the industry. "I want to be like the next Gene Kelly," he said. "I want to kind of do it all. I want to have a career in movies, television, music and Broadway--but have them all be separate, their own entities."
He also confirmed that he won't be part of the reported Glee tour set for summer next year. "You probably know as much as I do about it," he said. "I just read about it online. I don't think I'm going to be involved in that. Mr. Schuester likes to take his summer break."
Well, Mr. Shue, we still have an album to listen to, so we don't really mind.
