TV ratings: 'American Idol' improves, but CBS wins Tuesday

Fast National ratings for Tuesday, May 11, 2010

"American Idol" halted its ratings slide Tuesday, improving by more than a million viewers over last week's season low. TV viewing was up elsewhere as well -- enough that CBS managed to take the total-viewer crown from FOX.

CBS drew 15.26 million viewers and a 9.4 rating/15 share in households, narrowly beating FOX's 15.19 million and 8.7/13. ABC (9.5 million, 6.0/10) and NBC (7.6 million, 4.7/7) were also up a little from last week. The CW was way back with just 1.15 million viewers and a 0.7/1.

FOX kept a stranglehold on the adults 18-49 demographic with a 5.7 rating. CBS scored a 3.2 in the demo to finish just ahead of NBC, 3.1, and ABC, 3.0. The CW could manage only a 0.5.
