Caprica Ratings - Still Not So Awesome - Featured

After the weak start for Caprica two Fridays ago on Syfy, fans were hoping that the relatively low premiere numbers were due to the fact that everyone had already seen the premiere (it had been available since last April in about 20 formats - from DVD to Hulu to OnDemand from your TV). However, the numbers are now in for the show's 2nd episode and they are even less impressive.

From TV By the Numbers:

"Caprica's episode on Friday night averaged a .5 rating with adults 18-49 and 1.411 million viewers. That compares with 1.6 million viewers and a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating for the pilot episode. But the pilot was two hours, and was widely available in a variety of ways (online, on-demand, DVD) well before the pilot actually aired."

Time to start that "Save Caprica" campaign already? What did we think about the show's second episode?

I am completely underwhelmed by the show thus far (I know its WAY too early to tell, i'll keep watching but...) its not tied in enough to BSG to keep hardcore fans interested. And people who are new to the BSG-universe really don't have any strong characters to latch on to like Adama, Starbuck, etc. I made be quite jaded, but I don't really care what happens, mainly because I know what happens, the Cylons blow up the colonies... oops, SPOILER!

I watched the premier back in August (after taking the summer to watch BsG) and I was kind of disappointed. I don't know what it is, but I just don't care enough about it. Then again, I probably never would have watched BsG if the pilot hadn't been forced on me, and only did watch it because I had the first two seasons readily available, so maybe this show just needs time to warm up.
I definitely agree about the lack of strong characters. I mean, Baltar and Six were just doing their own thing, and there was the excessive tension between Kara and Lee, and then the serious OMG at the end of the pilot (Sharon's a Cylon), and without all that it probably wouldn't have done as well as it did.

I think it is relying on a mix of cyberpunk type ghost in the shell concepts and cultures theologies. Which is a weird mix. Maybe too weird to grab everyones attention.
If your gona go future tech sentient programs you will have to give us something we haven't seen before to make it special.
I hate religious stuff. It bores the arse off me and I find it hard to care about a load of made up stuff based on all that. I thought BSG went off the rails when they introduced all of that nonsense.
