Smallville: Will Season 8 Be the End?

Smallville will be taking a break in its filming this season, shutting production down after the completion of the 10th episode.

There will be a Fall block, a long break (where Reaper will air), and then a continuous Spring block of the show.

Though the official reason given is so that the Spring episodes can air continuously, the rumors circulating on the fan sites are different. They are more along the lines of: the show is on its last legs creatively and will be taking a break so that it can be decided whether or not this is to be the final season. If it is the final season, then there will be ample time to write a fitting final story arc for the series.

What do you think? Should this season be the end for Smallville or do you think the show has energy left?

well to be honest i could watch it over and over again, so i wouldn`t mind it to go longer but let`s face it they`re running out of material, i mean everyone but clark flyes and he`s such a pussy sometimes when it comes to taking things into in own hands talking bout him and lana and all so it`s better they finish it this year with a bang and then ok. last season was an ok season but lacked a lot of things because of the writers strike and therefore a lot of ppl i know tought the show was getting boring, and i know a lot of u out there think so too. i think they should take their time maybe make this season longer like more then the regular 23 episodes and end it greatly so that us fans remember it like a great show it is!

ALL IN ALL , SMALLVILLE IS GREAT. MY REATING 96%

I think Smallville still has a lot of potential, and for it to possibly get cut off now would be a shame. However, I will agree that they are stretching the storyline a little too far e.g. bringing back Brainiac and destroying him time and time again. I think they should carry it on till they can find a suitable way for them to send Clark off to his destiny 'cause they haven't fully explained Durel etc...

Smallville has always be a great show, but I have to admit it isn't as good as it used to be. Which is understandable. They're running out of material - most shows do. I think if it was to be the last season then we do need a lot more of the classic Clark Kent. He needs to put on the cape, even if its in the last episode. I just hope it lives up to the other seasons. The worst thing the show can do is turn into an unwatchable show and then end. It almost ruins all the previous great seasons. I'd rather it was the last season if it meant the show ended on a high.

Hello all, I believe that Smallville has alot more to offer even its general focus is on his teen years and it is a slight spin off, there are alot more you can add. Even though personally I would like it to go on continually, it must have and end however i do not believe it should be now. There is room to build on Clark's relationship with Lois. Growth in the Justice League, him learning to fly or actually flying, him facing Zod, Darksied,i believe there is still much left in it. There is room to evolve and make it successful. There are alot of storylines left, just think about it. Rescuing Kara from the Zone is another one.
In regards if it is indeed to be the last then Clark flying should be a good sen off and not just for the last episode but at least three episodes and either a final battle or finally putting on the red and blue suit.
Ratings should also be a factor in whether it goes on or not, because its ratings has not dropped and is growing.

I think it should keep going to season 10. They make a killing and i always enjoy the show.. im actually rewatching all the episodes now :)
It would be sad if they canceled the show so early but either way it had a good run.

To me, Smallville has been the first and only TV series I have been following with passion these last 7 seasons, and most of episodes I have watched 2 to 3 times or more. But Smallville is the story of Clark and Lana. Ever since Kristin Kreuk left, I have been watching the episodes once, out of interest. The excitement is over. Smallville without Kristin or Michael is not Smallville. In my opinion, this 8th season should have been the first of a new series, and make it the exact story of Superman if you like, for Clark and Lois fans.

For one smallville should not end but i feel it should because it is running out of ideas.I have watched the show from day one with alot of passion and excitement. The last series was ok but it could have been better, the writers strike did not help the series either. Now that Kristin Kreuk and Micheal (Lana and Lex) have left i feel that this will impact on the show alot. But i cant help but wonder if they should put the show into a new direction now that four big charactors have gone. They can bring in new and bigger one which inturn can bring new and more exciting storylines. Not what they did with Kara and Jimmy because they were weak and not interesting.I feel they can do alot more with the series and by bringing it into a new era wha tis to say that they cant make another 8 series.

I personally like smallville but i havent gotten past the 4th season b/c i just recently found smallville online. I do know that superman is one of those timeless characters. So im sure they really could go a lot further but like i said i havent seen past the 4th season. I just know that superman has a lot of potential and smallville is a great series so i hope they find a way to make it either a great final season or make even more seasons. i think itd be cool if they made a movie to end off the show.

i really don't know, i mean, Smallville was compelling and addictive at first and as all shows do it started running out dry..
With this season's premiere looking so good, with him getting independent n leaving the F*CKING barn behind finally n getting a bit cheeky with Lois i think it could go somewhere. it's hard to say yeah i think it's time to stop the show but i think if they go either way, this season should be amazing, for the fans' sake

DO NOT!!!! I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!! MAKE A MOVIE!!
not completely against the idea of franchising but not a movie!! especially after an 8 season (min.) show!! no way, that would be milking it supremo
