Cancellation Buzz: NBC Wants Heroes to Think About Its Final Chapter (Maybe) - Featured

This is purely speculation at this point, but usually reliable fan/spoiler site AirLock Alpha reports having NBC sources that claim the network has been asking the show's producers to seriously consider how the show would wind down and end...this May.

From AirLock:

"There isn't much happening with this show in terms of audience, and giving it a 'final chapter' feel is something the network is considering to help allow the show to go out with a bang," said the source, who asked not to be identified.

Since its successful first season, Heroes has been shedding viewers each successive year; it is currently NBC's lowest-rated Monday night show, averaging less viewers than the now-canceled Trauma, which airs after it.

The source stresses that a final decision has yet to be made and that NBC has yet to comment.

But with the numbers that the show has been averaging this season, it really wouldn't be all that surprising...

Heroes season 1 averaged 14 million viewers, (ratings NBC probably have nit seen since "Friends")S2 13 million (and it was probably that high because the season was so short - people didn't get time to abandon it!)S3 11 million and now season 2 is not even in double figures yet! And the ratings keep dropping...This is not CW or FOX - that's considered low by NBC.It's one of those shows that demand an ending though, so we should be glad that it's not getting cancelled mid-season.I loved it at the start, season 2 was lame, season 3 could have redeemed it, but season 4 is back to suckingTo quote maladroit "Thank God! Finally..."
