Kanye West Departs from Usual SNL Musical Performances

Kanye West stole the show by departing from Saturday Night Live's usual musical guest appearances, eschewing the standard setting and using an all-white otherworldly room surrounded by dancers, which effectively made his performance look like an ambitious music video.

Typically, SNL performers are backed by the Grand Central Station-themed stage in Studio 8H. But for his first number, "Power," West went with the different setting. It culminated with West atop a staircase placing a crown on his own head.

Again backed by the dancers in the same setting, the second number, "Runaway" - which he also performed at the VMAs - found West creating his own beats on stage before diving into the song.

Did you watch West's performances? Did you like the change?
