ABC and Canwest have renewed new drama series ROOKIE BLUE for a second season, which is currently in development and will move into production in Toronto later this summer.
Rookie Blue has garnered positive response in only three weeks of being on the air. It is the most-watched television show in summerâs Thursdayâs 9:00 p.m. hour.
For those who donât know, Rookie Blue follows the lives of five inexperienced rookies thrown into the world of big city policing. The series examines the trials and triumphs, competition and camaraderie of this rookie family which is learning that no amount of training can prepare them for this job â or for life. It stars Missy Peregrym (âReaper,â âHeroesâ), Gregory Smith (âEverwoodâ), Charlotte Sullivan (âM.V.P.â), Enuka Okuma (â24â³) and Travis Milne (âMy Green Houseâ). Rounding out the cast is Ben Bass (âWould Be Kingsâ), Eric Johnson (âMillvilleâ), Matt Gordon (âRent-A-Goalieâ), Noam Jenkins (âFlashpointâ) and Melanie Nicholls King (âThe Wireâ).
It is executive-produced by award-winning Tassie Cameron (âFlashpointâ), Ilana Frank (âThe Eleventh Hour,â âWould Be Kingsâ), Noreen Halpern (âHung,â âHavenâ), John Morayniss (âHung,â âHavenâ) and David Wellington (âThe Eleventh Hour,â âWould Be Kingsâ).
Rookie Blue currently airs Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
