Fav TV Couples: Top 10 Star-Crossed Couples, Part 2 - Featured

Buffy & Angel - Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel

I'd say that Buffy and Angel pretty much define the star-crossed lovers. After all, spoiler alert, after the two have sex for the first time and Angel experiences a moment of pure happiness, a gypsy curse is then broken, causing Angel to lose his soul. He then turns into the evil Angelus. Yikes! Have we mentioned that Buffy must also spoiler alert sacrifice Angel to save the world at the end of Season 2? We also all know that Angel eventually comes back from Hell, though when it becomes apparent that the whole Buffy/Angel thing won't ever really work, Angel skips off to LA...

Dan & Serena and Chuck & Blair - Gossip Girl

We believe that both of these couples are meant to be, yet somehow they are always fighting with one another, breaking up, getting back together, breaking up, not being able to tell the other one they love them, lying, cheating, sleeping with teachers, sleeping with hookers, need I go on?

Ted & Robin - How I Met Your Mother

Another spectacular example of the star-crossed pairing, as we know that Robin and Ted love one another (and are meant to be together), yet the show has told us from Day One that the two do not and cannot end up together! Why? Why? I still think that somehow they are in the end going to tell us it was all a big ruse and they were just kidding about that whole Aunt Robin thing...

Izzy & Denny - Grey's Anatomy

She's alive (we think, but who the hell knows what's up with Izzy these days) and he's dead, so I'd say that that would make soul mates Isobel Stevens (Katherine Heigl) and Denny Duquette (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) pretty damn star-crossed. Then again, maybe with all of these rumors, the two will soon be meeting once again up in heaven.

Clark & Lana - Smallville

We watched these two characters fall in love from the very beginning of Smallville and rooted for them and wanted them to end up together. Their chemistry was undeniable. Yet we also knew via the Superman mythology from the beginning that these two were never meant to be. Who saw Requiem? Case and point.

So...who are your favorite pairs of star-crossed TV lovers?

Izzie and Denny are terrible together, i might have liked him more if they never brought him back as a ghost only Izzie could see that was terrible. Izzie is so much better with Alex!!Dan and Serena are so annoying together, they shouldnt have gotten back together Serena should be with Nate.Clark and Lana are DEFINITELY THE WORST!!, Clark is so much better off with Lois, i hate when hes with lana cuz he turns into this sad little puppy dog instead of a adult man.

@bcooper and the_beatlesKeep in mind that this list isn't favorite couples; it's star-crossed ones. This is why Lana is on the list! Star-crossed couples are those that aren't meant to work out; they are destined to fail.We know that Clark ends up with Lois, so they can't be star-crossed. Lana on the other hand...

The Doctor and Rose Tyler from Doctor Who. At the very least watch the last 2 or 3 episodes of seasons 1, 2, and 4. you'll see it.

Warning: Spoilers. A Lot.
I hate Angel. I just do can't stand him and his relationship with Buffy.
I think of Buffy relationships Buffy and Spike are the way to go. His Evil she's good, he tries to kill her and she him, he then tries to help her, she still wants to kill him, he gets a chip in his head that doesn't let him hurt any living being or he gets electric shocks in his head and so therefor turns good and fights evil. Then he falls in love with her and she uses him only for sex and taking out her anger. Their relationship turns brutally violent. She says he disgust her yet she sleeps with him a lot. He says he'll die for her yet he tries to rape her when she broke it off for the 6th time. Then he goes and gets his soul back and she forgives him sort of. Then their relationship starts to develop as they become close again only to have him die in the last episode of the whole show with her saying I love you. Now that is Star-Crossed Lovers. Talk about complicated.

Me for one was never a big fan of lois lane but big fan of Lana Lang. Lana Lang and Clark Kent were meant to be. The last episode of Smallville only proved that Clark Kent love of his life none other than Lana Lang and lois lane was just a rebound. For those who hate Lana lang how about those who hate lois lane so we are just even but we won in the end and Lana will always be Clark one true love. The Clark and Lana story did not end in smallville because there still hope that they will be together someday.

Kudos for adding Smallville's Lana and Clark on this list. Your description of their amazingly intense relationship is right on point. The beautiful love, the undeniable chemistry, and the constant rooting for this couple for so many years. How anyone can watch Requiem and not be able comprehend that this pairing embodied the true heart/soul of SV is beyond me. SV has portrayed Lana Lang as Clark's true love for 8 very long years and vice versa. Even after all the trials and tribulations that they have been through (the good, the bad, and even the downright tragic), they have ALWAYS managed to find their way back to one another. In an interview, Al Gough(SV Creator) stated that "There's a soulmate connection between Clark and Lana." What do we know about soulmates? We know that they may temporarily part for whatever reasons. But ultimately, they find their way back to each other. I believe this is the route that the Producers/Creators of SV were going for all along, and I couldn't be more satisfied. In SV UNIVERSE...Lana Lang is endgame. PERIOD. Anyone else is well...just a temporary replacment. *smiles*

I couldn't agree more that Clark and Lana are deserving of Top 10 Star-Crossed Couples. What a beautiful love story. Tom Welling and Kristin Kreuk have incredible chemistry together. I have been rooting for them since the Pilot episode. I have watched them grow closer, overcome obstacles, and become an epic romance. In Smallville's version of the story, Clark and Lana are truly soulmates and Lois is sloppy seconds. Clark and Lana always find their way back to each other, so hopefully their stars will cross paths again.

Definitely Clark and Lana are the best couple. Hopefully they will end up together, it does not matter whether this is in the near future or not. I am sure they´ll find a way to overcome the kryptonite obstacle. Everything is possible in the world of Smallville. Perhaps a child from their union will reunite them for ever....

I think that Buffy has the best love stories. She loves Angel, and I think she always will, but she can't be with him. The moment in the 8th episode of Angel when he tells Buffy that she is gonna forget the day they had together is more than heartbreaking. It's unbearable to watch her cry. Then, there's Spike. Together, they are hot and powerful. And Spike really loves her. The only thing that's bothering me is that even though Buffy tells him that she loves him in the end, she doesn't really do. She feels for him but she doesn't love him. That's why I believe that in the end, the writers should have brought Buffy and Angel back together because they have the greatest love story on TV.

ok i agree, don't mess with the slayer and the vampire with a soul. Angel and Buffy were meant to be together and it was heart breaking when buffy had to sacrifice angel to save the world. she loved him but her duty as a slayer came first. It's a forbidden love, angel gave up being with buffy to protect the world.....i think. buffy was the love of angel's life he was hers, even before angel met buffy he knew he wanted to help and protect her. But then there was riley nd spike....but she knew she would always love angel.
Dan and serena are so meant to be together anyway, their together in real life so what does that tell us. in gossip girl it's all about drama but thats why we love it, they break up just to get back together. Classic.
Clark and Lana are cute together...high school crush that lasted ages, but when clark told lana everything and proposed and all....it was heart breaking when lana died he had to go back time but he knew someone was goin to have to die, in saving lana hee sacrificed his father, love rige there. But i have to say lana got soooo annoying when she went wit lex and became the biggest Bitch!!! clark pretty much sacrificed his dad for her

house & cuddy or buffy and angel
house & cuddy are hilarious, i don't want them 2 ever get together, it's better the way it has been so far. they would epicfail as an item!
and buffy and angel will be a couple remembered for generations i think, even tho i MUCH prefered Spike and his bad boy charm to Angel and his boring prety boy streak (much better when he lost his soul) the story between Buffy and Angelus was amazing

I'm still in love with the Buffy/Angel pairing. Now if only that soul could stay in place, then they can eternally be forever. Here's to hoping that the canon continuation of the series in comic could still give these two hope. After all, they did mention the 'always and forever soulmate' of Angel will be Buffy. Now come on, just let it happen!
More star-crossed couples that should undeniably be together: Jess & Rory, Logan & Veronika, Clark & Lana

i can think of one more star crossed couple...Ryan and Marissa from "the O.C" !!!o.c fans out there know what im talking about...ryan and marissa are totally meant to be together although like the other couples listed on here they were doomed to fail for a real "LOVE STORY WITH A HAPPILY EVER AFTER"...in the beginning of the 1st season we can see the "love at first sight" moment between them and during all the other seasons they broke and made up every now and then, they really had some troubles to keep up a healthy relationship and up to the end of season 3 marissa even dies...sooo i think they pretty much deserve to have a rank here too :)
aaand Phoebe and Cole from "Charmed"...loved them to death XD ...too bad cole turned into the pure evil but til the very end of his "life" he loved phoebe...

I would say that while Angel and Buffy are star-crossed I would choose Buffy and Spike as THE star-crossed couple of that tv show. If only because in the end it is Spike that Buffy chooses as her hero.
(Someone said earlier something about Angel being the only vampire with a soul, that's not true, Spike gets his soul in the last episode of season 6)
