Record Ratings for Secret Life Finale

The finale of The Secret Life of The American Teenager, which aired on ABC Family this past Tuesday, delivered the network their most watched original telecast ever.

4.5 million people tuned in to view the finale and the network points out that this is more viewers than any episode of Gossip Girl has ever received.

What did everyone think about the finale?

Personally, I think that the girl playing Amy's sister Ashley (India Eisley) deserves a raise (she's great!) and those two girls playing Amy's "best friends" should be fired. Amy's dad too. I really can barely tolerate a few of the characters on the show, which is making it a lot harder for me to enjoy. I can't quite tell if it's because of the delivery of the lines by these actors/actresses or the way they were written or a combination of both. Either way, those three make me cringe every time they open their mouths.

I also agree with jasterix88, who pointed out that Shawn Johnson's cameo was pretty terrible. I get it...it was supposed to be funny that Ricky asked Shawn where she had been (seeing as she was at the Olympics and all), but it just made no sense in this context that Shawn would be playing herself.

I did however like the development of Grace's character throughout the season, and while I still am a little offended by how "slutty" Adrian is, I do like what Francia Raisa is doing with the part. I also think that Shailene Woodley has been handling her dramatic scenes well. I believe her in the role.

I don't get itthis show is acceptable and it's pretty addictive but it's not great or fantastic or a statement of art! it's like a new 7th heaven without the big familythe only character who has been acting amazingly since the first episode is Adrian, and Grace is finally becoming interesting...but I can't stand amy ben and ricky...they might be part of the biggest plot of the show their story is boring and ben is a psychoanyway it has been watchable during summer but now that the SERIOUS shows are coming back I don't think I'll keep on watching

omggg i completely agree with u. the show is addictive but its not interesting. the plot is pretty boring and the season finale no offense but it sucked i couldnt believe that was the season finale. by far the worst one i've seen. like if u compare the season finale of one tree hill last season and this one, this one was terrible and it doesnt really make u want to continue watching the show because nothing really exciting happened in it. i dont understand why so much ppl watched it instead of 90210 that day. that show is by far more interesting than this one.

that's the same thing with me, I was watching it because there was nothing else but when the other shows started I even did not think about it! Plus I am too excited by some brand new shows and I must admit that some old shows have a pretty good come back this fall! But like everybody, I work and have a social life, so I'll follow passionately two shows, and watch a few more when i happen to be at home! For the moment, 'True Blood' on HBO has got me, the leading character an AA winner, Anna PAquin is just tremendously talented, and since it is the adaptation of Charlaine HArris collection on vampires (yes, I was surprised too, this is not my favourite genre...and I surprised myself buying the books because I couldn't wait) is going to be very very entertaining!

I think this show might be a bit devalued becuase of its stroke of realism to the story, these things happen in real life un-beknownst to anyone. i live in the UK and this gives a better (more realistic) portrayal of life within the US academic system for me. I cant get my head around sororities and fraternities within college or the social darwin-esque nature of the US schooling system (sure it happens here, but the degree of which is far less).Anyways, my point is that is portrays life (real life) far better then most shows set with the characters within the age bracket (13-17)from my perspective. This realism may be why some people may cast this off as a second rate (off season) show, which i think is direly wrong..
