Jersey Shore Cast Members Say Punch Brought Them Together

MTV may have pulled the Jersey Shore punch off the air, but cast members of the reality show say the incident also had an uplifting effect.

"It brought us together," Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi tells TV Guide Network's Hollywood 411. "It was a positive, we all got so close."

MTV called the incident, in which Polizzi was socked in a bar, "extremely disturbing" and announced Friday it had decided against airing the punch. "After hearing from our viewers, further consulting with experts on the issue of violence, and seeing how the video footage has been taken out of context to not show the severity of this act or the resulting consequences, MTV has decided not to air 'Snooki' being physically punched in next week's episode," the network said in a statement.

Seaside Heights, N.J., housemate Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino shared Polizzi's sentiment. "You know that was an unfortunate event, I mean it ... it brought us that much closer in the house. By any means you should never hit a girl," he told Hollywood 411.

The physical altercation, between Polizzi and a man later identified by New York Post as Brad Ferro, took place in August when all the show's cast members were at a Seaside Heights bar. Ferro was arrested that night for the punch, which injured Polizzi's mouth.

Ferro could not be located for comment.
