Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester) has always been the star of the Upper East Side. But being the Queen Bee of Manhattan's social scene hasn't exactly been easy as she is under constant scrutiny from her detractors, not to mention the mysterious Gossip Girl blogger. Fortunately, she's not alone. Aside from best friend Serena (Blake Lively) and a couple of disciples, she has a loyal servant in the form of Dorota, who not only serves as her maid, but her sounding board, accomplice and a mother figure as well.
Just like Dorota, her portrayer Zuzanna Szadkowski is also Polish. However, she doesn't speak with the same accent as she moved to America when she was just 3 years old.
"I was born in Poland, so I am able to identify with her in that way, Szadkowski told MTV. Certainly the accent is modeled after people in my own family, so hopefully I am doing it justice," she said. "My family loves it and I know that in Poland Gossip Girl has a lot of fans. We have Poland represented on the Upper East Side!"
But cultural background isn't the only thing Szadkowski has in common with her character. Like Dorota, she also wants what's best for Blair and that includes a more sturdy relationship with Chuck Bass.
''I would love to see Miss Blair happy in the Blair and Chuck relationship," she said. "That's the most important thing to Dorota. Chuck has his charms and he also has a few lessons to learn in life, so hopefully the two of them keep having the sparks."
Dorota seems like an interesting character who has a lot of intriguing stories to tell. So what does the future hold for the sassy maid? That's something fans will just have to discover as they tune in to Gossip Girl. But one thing's for sure, love won't be in the cards - at least not in the near future.
''I imagine that's not so likely," she said. "But Dorota is surrounded by so many good-looking fellas, and none of them available."
