Predicting Sylar's Next Move

In 1961, we learned about Angela's (Cristine Rose) dark past that has haunted her for years. Basically, the government was already rounding up people with abilities during the '60s under the supervision of Mohinder's (Sendhil Ramamurthy) father but the operation went out of hand and ended tragically, leaving Angela, Charles Deveaux, Bob Bishop and Daniel Linderman as survivors who eventually founded The Company so that history won't repeat itself. Angela's sister, Alice, who has the power to control the weather, was also revealed to have survived the catastrophe. And more interestingly, we saw Sylar (Zachary Quinto) as he posed as Senator Nathan Pertrelli (Adrian Pasdar) on TV, pledging to bring about changes in the country.

From the way things are going, it seems that Heroes is heading towards a more concrete direction - at least that's what I'm counting on. With Sylar more powerful than ever, it's only a matter of time before we see him (shape-shifting as Nathan) as the President just like in the first alternate future depicted in the episode Five Years Gone where he begins a campaign to hunt down and exterminate all people with abilities, originally claiming that it will unite the world in grief. This begs the question: Will Sylar kill Nathan?

Of course, Sylar (or Nathan for that matter), is in no position to assume the President's role just yet, seeing as the current President is still alive and very much in command. Then again, he's inching closer to his wicked goal.

While Sylar in the seat of the government is alarming, I can't help but feel that this could also work to Nathan's favor. As Sylar dolls up Nathan's image to the public at large, Nathan could easily pick up from there and carry on as a politician - that is, once Sylar has been taken down (though this doesn't seem likely at this point).

Then there's Angela's mischievous smile upon seeing Sylar posing as Nathan at the end of 1961. It was actually an intriguing touch to the scene in which Claire (Hayden Panettiere), Peter, Nathan and HRG (Jack Coleman) were all shocked to see Sylar's shape-shifting ability in full force while Angela was the only one who beamed. Though history has proven that Angela is likely to sway her allegiances, I'm not so sure that her smile signifies any malevolent intention in the near future. Perhaps she already predicted what would happen and, as always, she knows something that viewers don't.

She probably knows that Sylar had a conversation with Rebel and he might actually try and take the government to be the Hero. His character has been inching toward Magneto this whole time. I just don't see them recycling the "Sylar becomes president and wants to kill all specials" storyline. He just wants to be the special one now.
