ANTM: Conspiracy Time

Spoilers Included

Since many of you are so angry (see comments) about Whitney's victory on ANTM last night and think that she was chosen more to make a statement (her being the full-figured girl) than due to merit...well, you may have a case.

Fresh from the rumor mill:

Whitney was approached by the America's Next Top Model people and told that, around a size 4, she was a little bit too big to be one of the "normal" models, but that should she gain some weight they would absolutely take her as the plus-sized girl.

Check out the evidence here and here.

If true, this would of course also mean that Whitney's sob stories of being teased for being curvy her entire life are...false, in which case I might have to retract my earlier statements about not being angry that she won.

For the record, this will be the second straight season laden with controversy, as it came out last time that Tyra and Saleisha went way back and furthermore Saleisha had previously been involved in a campaign with Wendy's, which technically breaks eligibility rules.

I think this is absolute crap. The second picture doesn't even look like her. Not to mention that in those pictures she looks at least a size 6. Sure her tummy is flat but she's got wide hips and that counts for something. And if you watch the show, she says she's a size 10. Going from a size 4 to a 10 is a big jump and there's no way she would make a jump like that in a short period of time with out stretch marks. It's possible that at some point she was smaller then she was now, but it doesn't mean that she intentionally gained weight to be on the show. The proof of this is photos that are who knows how old word of mouth passed down through at least three people. Were the results fabricated to let the full figure model win? Very likely. Most "reality TV" is fabricated. But I am very doubtful that she intentionally gained weight to be a full figure model.

I shouldn't even be surprised. I was bummed before but now....I'm sorta pissed at them. Super duper rigged and mighty disappointing. My only consolation is that Anya is fierce and probably won't have that much trouble finding work to jumpstart her modeling career. Nope, still peeved! Argh!

Concerning ANTM and a conspiracy i would like to point out that when Jaslene was picked over natasha the judges decision seemed, to me anway, to have been swayed by the fact that she was latino!! This would mean a wider audience and more publicity in that community. i may be crazy but i totally thought that. Natasha had a much better portfolio and didnt look so drag queeny.....(not that i dont like jaslene)
Concerning Whitney... i think she was a good model but she wasnt better than anya. and while i get they wanted a statement with a full figure model i dont think this is very fair on anya. Anya's an amazing model so im sure she'll have plently of work.
The photos of whitney being skinny could be when she was a good bit younger...and she still could have been bullied or had crap friends even if she was skinney so i believe her insecurities when she voices them.
whitney was terribly fake the whole time and i thought her first walk was ALL over the place...but at least she did have more life than anya. it really bugged me that in her beauty shot whitney's face looked terrible!
as for the fashion show.... what was going on? it was pretty small and tame. you think for versace it'd be a huge event..? and where was the designer?? it was really odd in that sense... like in past cycles they've had to do all sorts of crazy things in a real show.. this just seem staged for ANTM.
whitney was defiently picked because she's full figured. did it annoy anyone else the way she was like im the only plus size to have lasted and stuff. she is NOT plus size...she looks like a toothpick compared to previous plus size girls on ANTM!
well thats all that i think!

If I'm reading it correctly it says that she was approached and told that she would be allowed to be on the show if she gained more weight. As self-conscious as girls are, I think that would be a hard decision for a girl to make. Gaining weight, just for a chance to get on a show, not likely, for the chance to be ANTM, a little more likely, but really, I think that if you gained weight that you've never had before right before a show that would be watched by a lot of people, you wouldn't be so confident with your body, and she loved her body. They didn't say she would be promised to win, just that they would take her onto the show as the "full-figured" model.
So really, I don't find it true. But I am known to be wrong once in awhile.

I am so disappointed in this show right now. First Jaslene, now Whitney?! Anya rocked this show for the better part of the season, and Whitney walks a little better than her on the runway and that's it! Her first walk wasn't even good at all, it was absolutely horrendous, i was embarassed just watching it...she was all over the place!! I'm all for a "full-figured" model winning, but for the right reason. I don't think the better model was chosen...the winner was chosen not based on talent nor her personality (as Anya's was wonderful!!!) it was chosen to break new grounds "the first full-figured model"...i can't help but feel a little sorry for Anya.

chin's not right in the pictures, neither is the shoulders, or the hips.
