FOX's sci-fi drama TERRA NOVA is really starting to come together now that it has found its female lead.
Deadline reports that has cast British actress Shelley Conn as Elizabeth Shannon, who along with husband Jim (the already cast Jason Mara)and three children, travels 85 million years back in time to join a group of colonists (named Terra Nova) who want to help correct humankind's mistakes and avert the extinction humans are facing in the year 2149 due to pollution, overcrowding, and overdevelopment. Stephen Lang also stars as Frank Taylor, the leader of the colony while Allison Miller (Kings) plays Skye, a Terra Nova colonist who takes Elizabeth and Jim Shannon's son under her wing.
While not very well-known in the United States, Shelley Conn has appeared in several British television shows, most notably as Jessica in Mistresses. She will next appear in the James L. Brooks film, How Do You Know.
FOX will air a sneak peek premiere of the Terra Nova pilot in May to whet viewers appetites before the show begins its regular run in fall 2011.
