To mark the upcoming premiere of the World War II drama The Pacific and honor those who served in the war, HBO and a nonprofit group brought 250 veterans to the WWII memorial in Washington.
The 10-part miniseries from Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg chronicles the lives of U.S. Marines after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

"We did it because all of you are the greatest stories ever told," The Associated Press quoted Spielberg as telling the veterans.
Hanks, who raised money to build the memorial on the National Mall a decade prior, shared similar sentiments. "You defined peace with these four words: The Americans are here," he said.
The Pacific debuts Sunday at 9/8c on HBO.
