Just when I was ready to declare Fringe the first JJ Abrams show that was less-than-awesome (and I actually did give up on it for about 5 episodes)...it went ahead and got awesome!
If you stopped watching Fringe before the New Year last year (which is when I took my brief hiatus) because the serialized kooky-case-of-the-week format was not enough of a hook to keep you coming back, I urge you to check out the 2nd season premiere of Fringe, tonight at 9 PM on FOX.
During it's final third last season, Fringe evolved into something far better and stronger, keeping its case of the week, but delving into a much more compelling, overarching Abrams-esque mystery.
Luckily, even if you didn't finish up the season of Fringe (or you don't remember), io9 has an awesome primer, teaching you everything you need to know about The Pattern, ZFT, Massive Dynamic, The Observer and more...so that you can tune into tonight's premiere and not be too lost:
If you're not already on the Fringe bandwagon, I highly encourage you to read the primer and give the show a second chance!
The second season premiere of Fringe - "A New Day in the Old Town" - airs tonight on FOX at 9PM.
