Bruno was box office champ this weekend with an estimated $30.4 million dollar gross, outperforming the debut of its predecessor Borat, which grossed $26.5 million back in 2006. The film started strong with $14.4 million on Friday, though it dropped 39% on Saturday, finishing 3rd for the day. However, that strong Friday performance was still enough for the film to win the weekend.
Other top performers included Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs with $28.5 million in its second week and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen with $24.2 million in its 3rd week. Transformers has now grossed a whopping $339.2 million to date.
Hayden Panettiere new-release I Love You, Beth Cooper bombed both critically and at the box office, opening at #7 with just 5 million.
