Coming Soon to Netflix: Arrested Development, Derek, & More

By Jason Griffith

Netflix broke into the original-programming game in a big way this past February with the heavyweight political drama HOUSE OF CARDS, and the streaming service is set to up its production cred even further with additional series slated to premiere later this year.
Included on the menu is the resurrected ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, which will enjoy a head start from the cult following the show attracted during its original three-season run on Fox from 2003 – 2006. The Bluth family returns after a seven-year absence from TV to bestow us with even more of their mesmerizingly eccentric misadventures. DEREK will be available to subscribers in the spring, when the hilarious Ricky Gervais resurfaces as a care worker in a nursing home. Also on deck are Eli Roth’s murder mystery HEMLOCK GROVE (premiering April 19) and WEEDS creator Jenji Kohan’s ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK (summer premiere), a dramedy set in a women’s prison. If you haven’t already, now would be a good time to subscribe to Netflix.
