REPLAN IT brings to life the science of “appropriate technology” – using engineering techniques and physical structures, machinery and manpower, to meet the specific needs of diverse communities. The technology uses only the material at hand or readily available. It can be built at a low cost and operated and maintained by the local community with limited outside assistance. Jock will use his expertise to change lives in the developing world and right where you live. In each series, we'll show you “ground zero” of the appropriate technology movement – the classrooms of some of the most prestigious universities in America – to watch the incredible work of tomorrow's greatest minds. And for the viewer at home, we'll show inspiring projects that can be applied in the kitchens, basements and back yards of Main Street America.

"Bottle School"

March 5, 2013
Illac takes Jock on a journey to San Pablo, where he is shown the first plastic bottle school in the Philippines. Built entirely out of recycled materials, the bottle school's future depends on corporate sponsorships, one of which being Diversey. Jock is introduced to Diversey's Director of Global Sustainability, Stefan Phang, who shares the responsibility of preserving the environment.
