'Siberia' finale: 'It's like nothing's real ...'

"Siberia" ended its Season 1 tonight. I do not, however, have much in the way of answers or explanations for any of that faux-reality craziness. As Irene put it so succinctly, "It's like nothing's real."Still, it might still be worth it to try to make sense of the death, twists and surreality of the end of "Siberia." We may never get another season to explain it any other way.Annie diesDespite Victoria's early-season prediction that everyone else was going to die, most of the "Siberia" cast have remained stubbornly alive. The only actual death we've seen since then was Natalie's -- and that occurred off-screen. Thus we were due for some death. After the group reunites at the science station, death obligingly arrives to take out Annie. The heartbroken young woman is in the bathroom or something when the others make a truck escape. As a result, the evil soldiers shoot her in the back as... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/09/siberia-finale-its-like-nothings-real.html

'Siberia': What was the best 'Lost' theft of 'One by One'?

Not very much actually happened in the "One by One" episode of "Siberia." Sam, Daniel, Johnny and Joyce wandered around the research station. Sabina, Neeko and Biljan sniped at each other. That really is about it -- except, of course, for the rather numerous borrowings from another TV tale of survival, "Lost."Obviously, "Lost" has been a big influence on the fake reality show of "Siberia" since day 1. It's just that it is feeling a whole lot more extreme these days. Examples of "Lost"-like moments in "One by One" include:The research station: Nothing says "Dharma Initiative" like a mysterious, abandoned scientific facility filled with semi-working technology and animal experimentsMysterious video: Like the training videos of "Lost," this week's grainy footage from that old (and very real) Tunguska mission was supposed to provide answers. And -- like "Lost" -- it didn't help much.Pointless plane signals: Some of the "Lost" castaways wanted to build giant messages... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/09/siberia-what-was-the-best-lost-theft-of-one-by-one.html

'Siberia': Bad weather and footprints spell doom in 'A Gathering Fog'

Life just keeps getting worse for the surviving and chilly contestants in "Siberia." Now divided into two groups, pretty much everyone spent "A Gathering Fog" wandering around in the snow and nearly dying. Still, the only confirmed kill happened ages ago and answers a question that no one on the show had bothered to ask: Where did Natalie go?While Natalie did disappear, presumably on her way back to civilization, this was before anyone knew that there was no helicopter or producers' camp or anything like that. The other contestants just assumed that she had left. Now knowing that everything had gone way downhill by then, however, you would think that someone would wonder whether or not Natalie got out okay. They didn't. And she didn't. This all becomes terribly clear when the young woman's body is found very dead and very frozen (and very disemboweled) in the snow.Had she been dead all this time? Whenever... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/08/siberia-bad-weather-and-footprints-spell-doom-in-a-gathering-fog.html
