'Smash': Uma Thurman tries to look the part as Marilyn Monroe in 'Bombshell'

Viewers didn't get to see much of Uma Thurman in her much-hyped debut on NBC's "Smash" on Monday (April 9), but from the looks of the photos and previews from the April 16 episode, "The Movie Star," all that's about to change.Thurman plays actress Rebecca Duvall who sweeps in to take the role of Marilyn Monroe in the newly named musical "Bombshell" away from disgraced Ivy (Megan Hilty) and just-appointed understudy Karen (Katharine McPhee). But luckily for the girls, she's only around for a five-episode arc, so Marilyn will surely fall back into their laps soon enough.Check out the clips below of Rebecca giving the "Bombshell" team some notes on the show. Uma Sings As Marilyn Monroe On 'Smash'

Those questioning Uma Thurman's singing ability, this video is for you. The "Kill Bill" star, who also appeared in the movie musical version of "The Producers," recently joined the cast of " Smash " as Rebecca Duvall, the new star of the fictional Marilyn Monroe musical, "Bombshell." Thurman's character replaces Megan Hilty's Ivy and Katharine McPhee's Karen in the fictional production. Now that "Bombshell" has its star -- and funding -- that doesn't mean everything will be smooth sailing. In "The Movie Star" (Mon., April 16, 10 p.m. ET), look for Thurman's character to turn everything upside-down and butt heads with Derek (Jack Davenport). Karen and Ivy form an alliance to take down their new rival, and Julia (Debra Messing) reunites with her estranged husband to deal with a family crisis. 'Smash' sneak peek: Derek apologizes to Karen, Dev loses it

On Monday's (April 9) all-new "Smash," Karen (Katharine McPhee) gets the chance to step up as understudy for Marilyn when star Rebecca Duvall (Uma Thurman) gets delayed. But she also gets an earful in the clip above from her boyfriend, Dev (Raza Jaffrey) when she comes clean about Derek (Jack Davenport) making a pass at her.She's obviously not expecting him to stay mad for long, as seen in the clip below, when she answers the door in lingerie, hoping to greet Dev but instead seeing Derek, who's there to -- gasp! -- apologize.Check out the clips, and tune into NBC Monday at 10 p.m. for the full episode....
