"Hallelujah" may be the most overworked song of the decade, but it provided a stirring moment at the opening of Monday night's finals on "The Voice": a tribute to the victims of the Newtown, Conn., killings As the show opened, a lineup of red candles appeared on the screen. The camera then honed in on Blake Shelton singing the first verse of the Leonard Cohen song, surrounded by his compatriots -- Adam Levine, Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera, along with show host Carson Daly -- and the complete roster of this season's contestants.

How do you pay tribute to the fallen children and faculty members killed in the horrific Newtown shootings, and still wrap up a lively season of song and dance? On tonight's final performance episode of this season of "The Voice," coaches Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, and Cee-Lo Green honored the victims killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School with a moving performance of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah."The cast and contestants held cards displaying the names and ages of the deceased, while they sang an abbreviated cover of the song. It was a touching way to pay homage to the tragedy, as the nation struggles to make sense of it, without sensationalizing the violence or the perpetrator....
