'The X Factor': Jeff Gutt and Kelly Rowland on the emotional 'Hallelujah'

Simon Cowell is a hard man to please. And having been on what feels like dozens of iterations of talent competitions over the years, he's heard the standards many, many times. But during Wednesday's (Dec. 11) semifinal episode of "The X Factor" Season 3, he said Jeff Gutt's rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" -- a song that's been covered countless times throughout the years -- was one of the best he's heard. And he's produced some versions of the song! "Simon doesn't like anything," Gutt's mentor Kelly Rowland tells Zap2it backstage after the show."Inside I was dancing across the tables, but I had to completely just chill and was just so happy that Simon felt that way." Says Gutt, "Simon is a very smart guy, so to get two standing ovations from him when he still has two acts in, it meant that he really liked it. He wanted to show his appreciation of that,... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/the-x-factor-jeff-gutt-and-kelly-rowland-on-the-emotional-hallelujah.html

'The X Factor' Predictions: Who Will Go Home from the Final 4?

Only three acts will move on to the X Factor season 3 finale, so it's the end of the road for one. After a great night of performances, the one with the lowest votes will go home. There's no Final Showdown, no sing-off, no painfully drawn out decisions from the judges, just one elimination.  Read More... http://www.buddytv.com/articles/the-x-factor/the-x-factor-predictions-who-w-52118.aspx

'The X Factor': Carlito Olivero and Paulina Rubio on peaking at the right time

Talk about peaking at the right time: Carlito Olivero, Paulina Rubio's last remaining contestant in the Boys category, had his best night ever during "The X Factor" semifinals on Wednesday night (Dec. 11). He's been an underdog throughout the entire competition, but during his performances of Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" and Marc Anthony's "I Need to Know" he proved that he deserves his slot in the final four. "If there was ever a time to peak and get to that level it was the semifinals. Nobody here wanted to come off that stage knowing it was maybe one of the last times we performed on that stage and knowing we could have performed better," Olivero tells Zap2it backstage after the show. "I feel like America has had my back this whole competition and I have been the underdog and fought for survival the whole way. Being in the bottom two last week I definitely knew I... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/the-x-factor-carlito-olivero-and-paulina-rubio-on-peaking-at-the-right-time.html

‘X Factor’ Semifinal Borrows From NBC’s ‘The Voice’ (Video)

“The X Factor” has taken the saying “if you can’t beat them, join them” to heart. On Wednesday’s performance episode, the four semifinalists had to perform three times. And one of those performances had them doing duets against another competitor – much like NBC’s “The Voice.” Host Mario Lopez even referred to the round with the same term the NBC show uses for its similar round: a “battle.”   Read More... http://www.thewrap.com/fox-x-factor-semifinals-battle-round

X Factor 2013: Who Had the Best Duet? December 11 Live Show

As an extra curve ball for the last week of pre-finale Season 3 Live Shows, The X Factor pitted the final four contestantsagainst one another in a sing-off. Sound kinda familiar? Yeah, okay so maybe other music competition shows do something similar… but as we were saying, the duets gave America a chance to see who can shine under pressure and get a good look at the Top 4 remaining contestants. First off, Alex & Sierraversus Carlito Olivero, who dueted on Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová... http://feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/Rmg6TPyp20Y/2013-12-11-best-duet-top-4-poll

X Factor 2013: Who Should Be Eliminated From the Top 4?

We hate to say it (and say it again, too)but Carlito Olivero looks to be in danger this week over on The X Factor. Carlito barely made it into the Top 4, earning his spot in the semifinals only after vocally duking it out with Rion Paige. When the final decision came down to judge Simon Cowell, Mr. Nasty cast his vote in Carlito’s favor, briefly explaining that it might be the 24-year-old’s last best chance to break into the world of entertainment. Unfortunately, however, the slight signs of... http://feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/YU76hyn4hmY/2013-12-11-who-go-home-top-4

'The X Factor': Alex and Sierra on making Kelly Rowland cry

Sierra Deaton is a timid sidekick no more. The singer, one half of "The X Factor" star duo Alex and Sierra, has only been singing on stage for a few months, having occasionally popped up on stage to back her boyfriend, Alex Kinsey, during his gigs. But now, going into the finals of FOX's reality competition, she's finally a star in her own right. So much so that she brought judge Kelly Rowland to tears during her critique of the duo's goosebump-inducing cover of Sara Bareilles' "Gravity." "This experience has been a really big journey for me, not just as a singer but as a human," Sierra tells Zap2it backstage after her big semifinals night. "And for them to say things that really brought it all together -- when Kelly was saying things about female empowerment I was like 'Oh my god! Preach!'" It was especially flattering coming from a personal role model. "It just... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/the-x-factor-alex-and-sierra-on-making-kelly-rowland-cry-girl-power-pageants-more.html

X Factor 2013: Jeff Gutt on Why He Hasn’t Made It Big Yet — Exclusive

Jeff Gutt has no trouble adding a darker side to the typically pop-centric X Factor. The 2013 contestant describes himself as an “edgy and raw” artist but the resident Season 3 rocker definitely has a softer side. Jeff’s a single dad to adorable five-year-old son, Talon. (One huge upside to Jeff powering through to the finale: We’ll likely get a chance to see that cutie patootie again. Oh, and hearing Jeff perform is always nice.) The last remaining Over 25 contestant has been in the biz for... http://feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/JjO678cbxrk/2013-12-11-jeff-gutt-record-deal-exclusive

Watch All the Performances from X Factor Live Shows — December 11, 2013

It's the last week of Season 3 Live Showsbefore the grand finale of December 18 and 19 so we're expecting the fiercest night of competition yet. Four acts remain in The X Factor— Jeff Gutt, Alex & Sierra, Carlito Olivero, and Restless Road— and each brings something new and exciting to the table. With only three judges still in the running for Season 3 bragging rights (that would be Simon Cowell, Paulina Rubio, and Kelly Rowland) the trash talk might also get heated over at the judges's... http://feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/H15GmVJiHQo/2013-12-11-watch-live-shows-december-11
