2 Broke Girls Reviews & Ratings

Mondays, 9:30 PM ET on CBS

30 minutes

Set in New York City, the series chronicles the lives of two twentysomething waitresses -- Max, who comes from a poor working-class family, and Caroline, who was born rich but now down on her luck -- working together at a Brooklyn restuarant. The two become fast friends and set their dreams of one day opening their own cupcake shop (in which they need to raise $25,000 in order to make it happen), even though they have to find ways to make ends meet since they can barely afford anything with the pay they receive at work. Working with them at the restaurant is their boss Han Lee, Oleg, a cook, and Earl, the cashier.

This show isn't that great, and it bothers me more often than not for its use of tired, old stereotype jokes that it uses as a major crutch–seriously, the show could not stand up without its reliance on churning out stereotype after stereotype, or its other crutch of heavily relying on current pop culture. The pop culture references come out incredibly forced about 99% of the time. The show works because people like to laugh at easy things, and jokes about short people, Asian people, black people, old people...they're easy fodder, and no one cares enough to think or say much about it. But I like Kat Dennings, so I continue to watch for now without much investment in anything that happens.

Another show I find myself inexplicably drawn to. Most, if not all, of the characters make me want to kill and the absurdity of the entire situation defies belief. Still I find myself watching, I must admit mostly for Max, she's coarse, she's crass and not someone you would consider taking home but I would love to be her friend.

About two opposite girls, and how they survive living without enough money. the show is very funny, it has a lot of wit, sarcasm and humor.

While Caroline is extremely annoying, the two different personalities between Max and Caroline make the show work. They need to get rid of that extremely annoying upstairs neighbour though - I cringe every time she is in a scene and she drags the tone of the show down to gutter level.
