Eric Bachmann has been making music for more than 25 years, most notably as the frontman behind Archers Of Loaf and, later, Crooked Fingers. He stepped outside both names for solo endeavors in 2006 (with the spare, lovely To The Races) and for some soundtrack work (2002’s Short Careers). Today marks the release of a self-titled solo album that also marks the end of the Crooked Fingers name.
We invited Bachmann in for this year’s A.V. Undercover series (which will launch in May), and while he was here, we asked him if he’d do a song from Eric Bachmann as well. He asked us to find him some local string players and back-up singers, and we happily obliged. The results are an unnamed cover (again, you’ll see it in May) and this gorgeous version of “Dreaming.” The original appears on Eric Bachmann, which came out today on Merge Records (and is fantastic). Bachmann will be heading out on tour soon; the dates are below. Enjoy.
