American Idol Alum Sentenced to 70 Years in Child Porn Case

A formerAmerican Idol contestant has been sentenced to 70 years for multiple child pornography counts, NBC affiliate WSFA reports. Brian Cox, who made it to the Hollywood round during the 2012 season of Foxs former singing-competition show, was convicted on Wednesday of seven counts of possessing child pornography by a judge in Elmore County, Alabama. Well, that didn’t take long. Less than a year after its 15-season run ended on Fox, American Idol may be returning to television — on NBC. Per Variety, which first broke the news, Fremantle Media — which produces Idol — pitched Peacock execs a revival of the long-running singing competition.
