No, you're not seeing things! That was Jana Kramer, best known as troubled model/actress/screenwriter/singer/songwriter Alex Dupre from "One Tree Hill," performing at the CMT Awards on Wednesday night. Kramer's character left Tree Hill early in the show's final season, leaving behind her boyfriend to pursue a country music career. In a case of art-imitating-life-imitating-art, Kramer herself hit the tour circuit, too. Her debut album was released on Tuesday, and fans got a little listen at the CMT Awards as she played the show into a commercial with her single "Why Ya Wanna," which, of course, "One Tree Hill" fans are already familiar with. Kramer isn't the only emerging artist who played an abbreviated version of a new song as the show lead into a commercial break. "American Idol" fans likely recognized Casey James as the third place finalist from Season 9. He played his song "Crying On a Suitcase" from his debut album, which was... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/06/cmt-awards-2012-one-tree-hills-jana-kramer-and-american-idols-casey-james-play-us-out.html

Just because Lee DeWyze wasn't asked to perform on Wednesday night's American Idol finale, he didn't want to present Scotty McCreery the trophy as some sort of consolation prize. "I didn't want them to throw me a bone because I didn't perform," DeWyze tells The Hollywood Reporter. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Lee-DeWyze-Nigel-Lythgoe-1033738.aspx?rss=breakingnews

Crystal Bowersox has sometimes been perceived as exuding a holier-than-thou attitude about appearing on American Idol alongside teenybopper pop singers (a category which she most certainly does not fall into). But MomaSox wants to assure her fans that she doesn’t look down her nose at the über-populist reality television show that put her on the map. The folksy balladeer said, "I don't take for granted for a second what American Idol did for me, the life that I have now. I'm sitting here now because of American Idol. I wouldn't have anything that I have now if I hadn't tried out for the show. It's changed my entire life." To Read More Click Here.
We're now officially in the thick of the holiday season, but there's another annual celebration we should start preparing for: 'American Idol' season. Though the show doesn't premiere until January, today brings the first of what will surely be many, many 'Idol'-related stories to come over the next month. According to Reality Blurred, some intrepid 'AI' sleuths have deduced how the field will be narrowed down to the finalists now that the semi-final rounds are out: online voting. Though convenient, introducing online voting into the 'Idol' process could have some unintentionally disastrous consequences. After the jump, read why we think it could be a good idea -- and also why it could be a very bad one. Just to be clear: This is not official news from Fox, but it is a likely (and probable) explanation for several clues floating around the internet right now. One 'Idol'-tracking website noted that the Twitter bio for an account titled "AI10 Contestants" reads "Voting begins Thursday, February 24 at ATT.com/Idol." Plus, an insider told Vote for the Worst that 40 to 50 contestants will be prominently featured during the five Hollywood episodes, with viewers voting online for the top 12 contestants. Three more finalists will be chosen via a judges' wild card. To Read More Click Here.
Former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi is writing a memoir about her time at the judges' table. The book, titled A Helluva High Note: Surviving Life, Love, and American Idol, will be published by It Books, a division of HarperCollins, a rep for the publisher confirms. DioGuardi left Idol after two seasons amid a major shuffle that ended with Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler becoming new judges of the Fox reality hit. Last month, DioGuardi, 39, landed a new judging gig on Bravo's singing competition show, Going Platinum, which is set to premiere next year. A Helluva High Note: Surviving Life, Love, and American Idol will be released on April 26, 2011. Source Here
