On 'America's Next Top Model' (Wed., 8PM ET on CW), it's only the first episode of Cycle 15, and emotions are already running high. Tyra Banks creates drama when she chooses one model wannabe to stay on the show, yet leaves the contestant's sister waiting in suspense. Finally, with one spot in the competition remaining, Banks calls the other sister. Chris and Terra (from Arlington, Texas) then spiral into hysterics -- jumping up and down, crying, hugging, flailing their arms and cussing several times. When Banks asks if they're OK, one can barely speak. She's out of breath and nearly hyperventilating with excitement. Welcome to 'ANTM,' ladies. We hope it meets your expectations. Source & Video
Tyra Banks and her crazytown posse of fashionista crazies return for Cycle 15 of America's Next Top Model tonight. We've seen the season premiere, and we're pleasantly stunned. This old reality fave has often descended into something between predictability and self-parody, but believe it or not, the model magic is back. If you've ever loved a cycle of ANTM in the past, or if you're the only TV nerd in the country who's never seen it before and you need a reason to finally watch, here are six reasons to tune in what looks to be a genuinely good season: 1. All (!!!) of the girls look like models. 2. There is a real modeling prize: the cover of Italian Vogue. 3. Less screaming. 4. Tyra Banks puts away her patented camp/schtick/theatrics for at least the first two eps. 5. The first runway and photo shoot are pretty cool. 6. The wannabes have genuinely interesting personalities. According to the Hollywood Reporter, top industry names are replacing the gaggle of celebrities that have appeared in the as guest judges during past cycles. Judges on tap for the high fashion-focused cycle 15 (Wed., Sept. 8 at 8PM on The CW) include Diane von Furstenberg, Zac Posen, Roberto Cavalli, photographer Patrick Demarchelier and photographer-director Matthew Rolston. After 15 cycles, what changed things for the series? A partnership with Italian Vogue. "No one confesses out loud to watching [the show]," executive producer Ken Mok told the Los Angeles Times. "But the second we went out and told the world that Italian Vogue was going to be the prize ... that completely opened the doors, carte blanche, to any and everybody we wanted."
