"That's exactly what the other shrink said."
I loved 'Awake' - the way it went between past and present was coherent, complex and heartbreaking as the lead character had to learn to cope with both realities. Jason Isaacs acted his socks off and the rest of the cast made this a truly great show. I wish so much that it had been given a second season, it was cancelled too early. :/ A show that I'll happily rewatch, anytime...

I loved this show. I've watched over 200 shows and this is one of my favorite.Picture living in 2 realities in which you have something different you love in both... but you don't know which reality is actually real. The twist of reality and fiction, the truth, the deception, the conviction and the depth. It is acted stupendously and the story gave me goosebumps. I recommend this show to the mystery drama fanatic.

I'm really sad this show didn't get to explore the two great worlds it set up. It is filled with raw emotional drama and generally thought provoking, and to add to that there is the whole mystery of which world is real AND some cases out dear detective has to figure out. Such a great little show!

Very intriguing, thrilling and addictive!
1) I am usually bored of these "one crime per episode" shows and though "Awake" had the same thing going, it was actually interesting as it was connected to the main characters storyline.
2) At first I was anxious, even frustrated, to know which reality is real and which one is the dream or if any of it was real at all (which they obviously wouldn't reveal so fast), but after a while it didn't matter much - I actually connected with the main character and didn't want one of the worlds to not be real, wanted to keep the fantasy up.
3) And even though the aspect of the "basic family" - father, mother, a child is overused and boringly portrayed in most shows, this family didn't make me yawn and recall stereotypical, almost exact scenes from elsewhere. Even though they had everyday family situations, they were written with interesting details.
Other characters were intriguing. Most of them had a professional relationship with Michael, but those relationships felt "alive" and not "made up".
4) The action scenes, especially in the last episodes, were great. Unexpected and not boringly cliche.
5) Bravo that they kept challenging the show, moving forward with the plot rather than just playing safely around it. Each episode got deeper insight, raised more questions about main character's condition.

After watching the series I did have to google what had happened and why such ending. It wasn't disappointing, yet I wish they had had more time to explain it. It was a wild run, got me jumping up from excitement. Even if you end up not liking the ending, you won't regret watching it!
