Beelzebub Episode #60 Anime Review

After going a bit big last episode with some good fight son the new academy’s grounds and the overall scale of the threat posed by the 34 Pillars, it went in a very big way towards the end when Beel and Oga combined. That’s been something not used often thankfully but when they do draw it out, it’s very cute and fun and shows the neat relationship the two have. Of course, what made it a bad episode was the discovery that this is the series finale now and we’ve got no more coming. So it intends to play things as best as it can, such as showing the sad side of things at the start as everyone thinks Oga’s bought the farm. Instead, he’s just been spending some time in the demon world before he and Beel made their way back. It’s comical what he went through since it was hardly a danger. READ MORE...

Beelezbub Episode #59 Anime Review

Bringing back the original Ishiyama school into play was definitely a welcome turn of events in the previous episode. While the academy they’ve been housed in for half the shows run at this point has had its fun, it’s definitely overstayed its welcome when you get down to it. There were some fun elements brought in at times but largely it’s kind of felt empty for a bit, especially with how it seemingly dealt rather quickly with the 5 Holy Knights subplot. Of course, with the new school having finished being constructed, the gang arrives to check it out only to discover that it’s been designed to house the 34th Pillars Division as an effort to educate them and Lord En on humanity before they wipe out said humanity. Beelzebub Episode #58 Anime Review

It’s hard to believe it’s been so long since the gang last dealt with their old school, Ishiyama, since they’ve been at the new academy temporarily and gone through a fair number of adventures and side stories there, especially the bigger one with Lord En and the time spent with the Knights and their goofiness. In the end though, both of those larger events don’t feel like they had any serious long lasting impact as the smaller episodes with the split stories tend to register a bit more. With it having been so long since the school was destroyed, it’s close to completion in being rebuilt now and that’s going to set a whole series of other events back into motion. In some ways, it’s really surprising that these guys haven’t completely destroyed the new school yet and turned it to ruin like the other one was. Or that it’s seemingly in excellent condition considering the time spent there. READ MORE...

Beelzebub Episode #57 Anime Review

Beelzebub’s run of standalone episodes continues to be appealing as it just lets us enjoy the characters without any heavy issues or overpowering arcs. And considering the size of the cast, there’s some good potential. This episode does the two story split so we get some short term humor, something that has definitely been an advantage for this series since it doesn’t drag a gag into the ground in order to fill out the entire time. Knowing when you’ve got something good to work with but not trying to pad it out is definitely welcome when it comes to comedy based anime series. And it’s sadly rarer than it should be. Beelzebub Episode #56 Anime Review

When people start acting strange, you definitely find yourself on edge wondering what’s going on. But you also start to wonder if maybe it’s something that’s in your head and you try and figure it out. Of course, with the Beelzebub cast, it’s not like the people involved are subtle. When Hilda returns home from shopping, not only is Oga’s sister being very nice, but everyone else is acting off and almost ignoring her in some ways. Even Beel is giving her the cold shoulder and no matter how many cute things she does to try and get his attention, they end up failing. Of course, that just sends her into a tailspin of her own as she can’t help but to think that her master now hates her. READ MORE...

Beelzebub Episode #55 Anime Review

The things we’ve learned about Himekawa since he got involved in things with Lord En has definitely been amusing. Finding out that he was really the rich boy who was rebelling with his gang look, pompadour and so forth was fun and made sense as there’s always one of those in these kinds of groups. But with all the time spent dealing with that and the last few episodes where things just went off the rails a bit, Himekawa has decided to stop hiding that part of his life. He’s gone back to his perfectly done hair, expensive clothes and showing off his chest. He’s turned into a goofy version of an ultimate hottie and the girls in the school are beyond excited. Beelzebub Episode #54 Anime Review

With Beelzebub taking a bit of a break from the bigger storylines, a continued welcome idea after the way things have gone for a bit when it comes to Lord En and the others, it does continue to deal with some amusing pieces to what’s gone on. With the recent introduction of Black Baby Beel, there’s potential for a bit more fun and weirdness to come up when it comes to Beel himself and what he can get involved in. and it can work other characters well too depending on how it’s utilized. Which is what this episode does to good effect by having the other Baby Beel go missing from the teacher’s room where he was being kept under a desk during the day. Something that Oga and Furuichi weren’t even aware of was being done. READ MORE...

Beelzebub Episode #53 Anime Review

The break from the larger storylines continues and tis time we get things being pushed a bit more by the Great Demon Lord. He’s mostly been off screen for the majority of the series but the couple of times that we do see him, he’s ended up being the catalyst for things to happen to Beel and Oga. And that happens exactly here as he spends some time at a bar in his demonic region and gets an idea from both a TV and a female bartender that he’s flirting with there that will cause plenty of problems. Seeing the show "My First Conquest" comes across as an ideal thing for Beel to do and Hilde gets instructed with making sure it’s all filmed for him. READ MORE...

Beelzebub Episode #52 Anime Review

With the body switching thing out of the way and everyone back at school, Beelzebub goes in a rather comical direction this time around in a way that’s more fun than I expected. The gist of the episode is that the gang is all trapped at the school when a massive snowstorm hits and it traps them all in there. It’s kind of neat in a way as I do fondly remember sitting in school at that age, watching the snow coming down and the disparity of being in a building like that with such fierce weather outside while waiting for an early dismissal. While they don’t get that here, the show turns into a bit of a mystery as being trapped in the school is more than just the snow. There’s something else going on as someone is slowly but surely beating up every one of the students that are in there. READ MORE...

Beelzebub Episode #51 Anime Review

With the recent fun events out of the way, including the body switch silliness of the previous episode, Oga is now having to start getting more serious about things when it comes to his Super Milk Time mode. While it’s something powerful that he can use, he hasn’t mastered it and it just causes too many problems at the moment. We get a cute little flashback to how things went the last time with it and even the negative Baby Beel which is just adorable in his shadow form as he’s managed to find himself a new home with Oga’s trainer. It’s kind of disconcerting that he’s still around in a way, but it’s likely to just add more fun and confusion as the show goes on, providing he stays long enough and isn’t used for a cheap gag somewhere.
