Novice correctional officers are followed during their first year on the job at the Penitentiary of New Mexico in this series, which premieres with a rookie getting into an encounter with a violent inmate. Meanwhile, a female colleague tries to overcome her timid persona; and contraband is discovered in the prison kitchen.
