The Dunphys are about to get some annoying new neighbors. Andrea Anders has been cast in a recurring role on season 6 of ABC's Modern Family, playing wife to Tremes Steve Zahn and part of a horrible family who move in next door to the Dunphy family, played by Julie Bowen , Ty Burell, Sarah Hyland , Ariel Winter and Nolan Gould. The cast of "Better Off Ted" is back together. The late, lamented ABC comedy isn't coming back on the air, unfortunately, but the reason for their reunion -- a music video from one of their own, Malcolm Barrett -- is not a bad consolation prize.Better still, Barrett's single, "Revenge of the Nerds," is pretty darn good.Barrett, who played Lem on "Better Off Ted" and also co-stars in "Larry Crowne," is also a spoken-word artist and rapper who goes by the name Verbal. "Revenge of the Nerds" is his first single, and it features cameos by his "Ted" co-stars Jonathan Slavin (Phil), Portia DeGeneres (Veronica), Jay Harrington (Ted) and Andrea Anders (Linda), along with series creator Victor Fresco."Revenge of the Nerds" is part of a yet-to-be-released album called "The Backpacker's Guide to the Galaxy." The video is below, and you're a fan of "Better Off Ted" (or of old-school hip-hop from the likes of De La Soul),... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/07/better-off-ted-cast-reunites-for-malcolm-barretts-hip-hop-video.html
The NBA Finals are about to trample over ABC's schedule for the last time this year, and all-but-forgotten in the hubbub over Game 7 of the Lakers-Celtics clash is [Better Off Ted]. The cancelled comedy was originally scheduled to air its last two episodes tonight, but basketball has sent Better Off Ted spinning off into the ether one last time. It's not that I'm bitter about basketball - I'm going to be watching the game tonight along with millions upon millions of other sports fans. It's just sad to see that Better Off Ted can't get a proper burial in the middle of June. The show deserved a much better sendoff, and it's a shame that we don't even know when we can say goodbye to one of the best comedies no one watched. We at SideReel have talked a lot about how much we wanted to save Better Off Ted, so I won't waste my breath beating a dead horse. I'll just remind you readers that the show was one of the smartest, sassiest, and most delightfully amoral comedy on television while it was on. Being unable to watch the last two episodes of this great comedy is a strangely appropriate ending to the show's doomed run. So let's raise a toast to Better Off Ted tonight - we may not be able to see the ending any time soon, but it gave us a great run, full of wit and venom. I plan on watching the whole thing again soon, and I recommend that you guys all follow suit.
ABC has canceled Scrubs , Better Off Ted , FlashForward and Romantically Challenged , Entertainment Weekly reports. The end of the Scrubs comes as no surprise to fans. The comedy was rebooted with several new faces this season to middling numbers and star-executive producer Zach Braff wrote on his Facebook a few months ago,"[Scrubs] is no more. It was worth a try, but alas ... it didn't work." Scrubs, along with Better Off Ted, aired a shortened season. After both series' low ratings, the last new episodes were burned off in March to 3.4 million viewers and 2.55 million viewers for their respective finales. FlashForward, thought by many to possibly be the next Lost, premiered to 12.47 million viewers in September. However, ratings have since fallen to 4.77 million viewers for last week's new episode. Romantically Challenged, starring Alyssa Milano, made a modest debut in April to 10.67 million viewers and has only aired three episodes thus far. Are you sad these shows won't be back? Source Here
Last week we told you that ' Better Off Ted 's' Andrea Anders was joining the cast of Matthew Perry's new show 'Mr. Sunshine.' That was one minor sign that the cast of the ABC sitcom was looking for other work because the show was going to be canceled. Now here's the ultimate proof that the show is probably not coming back in the fall: no more Ted! Jay Harrington, who plays Ted, has grabbed the lead in a new NBC sitcom pilot called 'Nathan vs. Nurture,' according to Variety. As Michael Schneider points out, when the star of a show gets another show, that's a good sign the other show isn't coming back. Harrington will play a heart surgeon who not only finds out who his biological are, he also finds out that he has several siblings (and I'm going to guess that these siblings are going to be wacky in some way). James Burrows is going to direct the pilot so we know that at least that episode will be great. Source Here

Today at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour, ABC president Stephen McPherson was asked about the current status of Scrubs and Better Off Ted . The two comedies had their season premieres just last month, but in the wake of weak ratings, it's widely perceived that ABC is burning them off, as they are frequently doubling up on episodes this month. Commenting on the two series, McPherson said, "Well, I think we have obviously been disappointed with the way that's performed. I think it's been tough for us because we hadn't had a lot of comedy success. Wherever we put comedy now other than Wednesday, it is a little bit of an island. We didn't feel that those two shows were really compatible with the Wednesday night, so that's why they weren't originally part of it when we were programming it in the fall." McPherson remarked, "I love both those shows. I mean, Scrubs is something that I did resurrect. I think that they've done an amazing job of taking a show into very later years with the challenge of the lead only being in a few episodes. They've really found some great young actors in there. So I would hope that there's a potential that that could grow, but I'm not going to lie and say that the numbers have been really encouraging for us. Our intent is not to burn them off. It was really - we felt like that was the best slot we had in this time, and we went for it. And it hasn't worked out the way we would have liked." McPherson said the shows shouldn't be considered cancelled, but that a decision would be made after they end their seasons in the next few weeks. Source Here

Hello, any Better Off Ted fans out there? We know you're there and you love it, but there aren't enough of you! Better Off Ted was in a bit of cancellation danger last season, but pulled through for a new season, only to be greeted with a whole lot of no one watching... and then dropping to even less watching. Ouch. And so begins our efforts to save this hilarious show! Cancellation Buzz Status: Here's the rundown for Ted: Season 1 Premiere : 5.64 million viewers Season 2 Premiere : 3.81 million viewers Then, probably because of a death wish, ABC ran off some Ted episodes over the holidays when no one was watching, then apparently in a panic that both their Tuesday night comedies, Scrubs and Ted, were looking bleak, they tried to appeal to viewers' past-Scrubs love to get viewers to watch both comedies as they're airing double episodes of each, mashed in with each other. So how's that going? Double episodes aired 1/5/10 : Episode 6: 2.99 million viewers Episode 7: 2.6 million viewers I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's not helping. So what WILL help, you ask?
