Philadelphia surgeon Megan Hunt (Dana Delany) changes careers to become a medical examiner when an accident leaves her unable to operate. In the opener, a body is found in the Schuylkill River, and Hunt's work style proves polarizing to colleagues. Hunt also tries to repair her relationship with her daughter by coming up with the perfect present for her 12th birthday.
