Californication Reviews & Ratings

30 minutes

Sophisticated and unique, this comedy centers on novelist Hank Moody (David Duchovny) who struggles to raise his 12-year-old daughter Becca (Madeleine Martin), while still carrying a torch for his ex-girlfriend Karen (McElhone). His obsession with truth-telling and self-destructive behavior -- drinks, drugs and relationships -- are both destroying and enriching his career.

Much sex with so many attractive people. You are pretty much watching a walking disaster who has never understood a relationship beyond pubescent fantasy.

ok Good bye Hank and the gang. The ending to a long running series is bitter sweet and have Karen and hank most likely move back to new york and witness their daughters marriage is great end to the show .. only 2 questions wanted answered, Levon is he biologically hank's or not and meeting Becca's man and his straight laced family.. Everyone had a happy ending I guess.

This was some epic stuff. Plenty of debauchery, lovely music, quite interesting characters.

I recall marathoning the first three seasons of this show several years ago and falling deeply in love with the reality it presented: that things just don't always work out. Not because you don't deserve them to (though that is questionable in Hank's case–he didn't do much to deserve anything good), but because sometimes, life simply isn't all about you, and other people may get what they want while you don't. This show is just about life happening, and it's not always pretty. I wasn't thrilled by the last season or the series finale, but I miss the characters desperately. They were flawed, but real. They were intelligent, but prone to idiocy (as we all are). They lived a life so different from my own, with sometimes quite extreme dilemmas, but they remained relatable as they tried to navigate their existence in an environment bent on tearing them apart. I miss Hank and his utterly self destructive ways. I really do.

Gone after a good run , David Duchovny is in a new show that premiers soon , but he does a great job in this series , as a writer who Loves too much , unfortunately one of those Loves is Partying , one is Pussy and of course drugs and Booze ! Now if that offended you , don't watch this show or you may get really offended !

Californication was my favorite show for a few seasons, then it got awkward and i gave up around the 5th season.
Now i see people loved the last seasons so much, i might give it another try and come back to update my comment.

My husband and I loved to watch this show together. There aren't many shows or movies that we agree on but this one was a favorite! Funny, Crazy, Hilarious, Raw. Simply amazing.
