NBC premiered its new biblical inspired drama Kings last night. While the drama received mixed reviews, I thought that an intriguing plot and the awesome Ian McShane would be enough to attract the program some decent numbers, but no such luck for NBC. Kings premiered to a measly 6.4 million viewers in its first hour, and dropped to only 5.6 in its second. (If you did watch, what did you think? ) Ratings winners for the night included Desperate Housewives with 14.43 million, Cold Case with 12.92 million (yet it's still in danger of cancellation ) and The Unit with a season high 10.92 million. Another blow for NBC: The Celebrity Apprentice dipped 12% down to 6.7 million viewers. Source: TV Guide

EW is reporting that CBS has informed producers of long running shows Without a Trace and Cold Case that both programs are facing the possibility of cancellation come this May. Without a Trace was a Top 10 show back in its heyday 3rd and 4th seasons, but currently in its 7th season and now on Tuesday nights has slipped. Says the network: "They no longer have the type of ratings that justify the massive overhead." That being said, both Case and Trace have averaged over 10 million viewers an episode this season which isn't exactly a failure (at least in my mind). Both shows are rumored to be looking at ways to cut costs. So...would you be upset if these shows sailed off into the sunset? Without a Trace was one of the few procedurals that I've actually ever watched with any regularity, so for that one especially, I'd be a little bummed. Source: EW
