'CSI: NY,' 'Vegas,' 'Rules of Engagement' and 'Golden Boy' canceled at CBS

The few days before the network upfronts tend to be brutal for shows awaiting word on their futures, and this year is no different.NBC issued a flood of cancellations earlier in the week, and CBS joined the fray on Friday (May 10), dropping the ax on the only four scripted shows on which it had yet to make a call: veterans "CSI: NY" and "Rules of Engagement" and rookie dramas "Golden Boy" and "Vegas."None of those is terribly surprising. "CSI: NY," which ended its ninth season in February, was widely expected to be done. Most of the "Rules of Engagement" cast sought other work this pilot season. "Vegas" started well but was on a downward curve for most of the season, and "Golden Boy" never really caught on in the ratings.PICS 2012-13 canceled showsThe cutting of "Golden Boy" and "Vegas" means CBS will bring only one of its first-year shows, "Elementary," back for a second... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/05/csi-ny-vegas-rules-of-engagement-and-golden-boy-canceled-at-cbs.html

'CSI: NY': Gary Sinise says CBS knows 'we're solid' while awaiting word on renewal

Gary Sinise is holding out hope that it isn't the end for "CSI: NY," but he's content with where the show stands for now.The CBS crime drama ended its ninth season in February, and the network hasn't indicated yet whether it will be renewed. While Sinise is no stranger to being in that position ("We've had that three years in a row now"), he's satisfied that the show's fans have been given some sense of closure, since his Detective Mac Taylor proposed to girlfriend Christine (Megan Dodds). And yes, she said, "Yes.""If you look at the very first episode of Season 1," Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner Sinise tells Zap2it, "Mac is identified as a 9/11 family member, a first responder who lost a loved one in the Twin Towers. He's grieving, and throughout that first season, he's dealing with some of the residual effects."Toward the end of Season 8, he strikes up a... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/04/csi-ny-gary-sinise-says-cbs-knows-were-solid-while-awaiting-word-on-renewal.html

'CSI: NY' and 'CSI' crossover: Gary Sinise on his first trip to the Vegas set

Zap2it: Do you like doing series crossovers, as "CSI: NY" does with "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" this week?Gary Sinise: I do. It's fun. I went to the "CSI: Miami" set when we did a crossover there, and [former "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" co-star] Laurence Fishburne came to our set, but I never went to the "CSI" Vegas set before. It was nice to go over there and work with those folks. There are people there who have been on that show ever since it started, and they're happy and excited about doing the work. They still love it. They've had some cast changes there, but there's a consistency with some of the people. This is kind of a historic franchise in television history, and to be able to spend time with people who were there when it all started was fun.Zap2it: Had you crossed paths with Ted Danson before?Gary Sinise: We'd never worked together, but Ted's... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/02/csi-ny-and-csi-crossover-gary-sinise-on-his-first-trip-to-the-vegas-set.html

It's not the first time "CSI" series have crossed over, but a couple of firsts are still involved.Gary Sinise's Detective Mac Taylor leaves the Big Apple to visit his girlfriend Christine (Megan Dodds) in Las Vegas as a new story begins on CBS' "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" Wednesday (Feb. 6). The problem: When he arrives, she can't be found. The mystery comes to involve D.B. Russell (Ted Danson), leading him to follow Taylor back East as the tale concludes on "CSI: NY" Friday (Feb. 8).Though Sinise was involved in two tales that merged his series with the now-finished "CSI: Miami," he's never been on the set of the Vegas-set parent drama before, And since Danson joined "CSI" only last season, this is his first opportunity to visit a related show, and also to work with fellow Emmy winner and acting veteran Sinise."He's such a sweet man," Danson tells Zap2it. "We had a lot of fun,... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/02/csi-ted-danson-visits-gary-sinise-in-csi-ny-and-vice-versa.html
