Rookie cop Jake faces a challenging shift in Brighton. But, being the boss' son, Jake's biggest challenge is earning the respect of his new colleagues.
Despite Ryan's best attempts, an ex-soldier suffering from PTSD loses his grip on reality and places the whole team in mortal danger. Meanwhile, Jake realises he cannot trust his lawyer boyfriend when their relationship threatens to blow Jo's domestic violence case. Elsewhere, Felix investigates a homophobic hate crime, Carl tries to catch up with an opportunistic drug dealer, and Robert is forced to confront the consequences of his marital betrayal.
Robert is unwittingly involved in the pursuit of a dangerous criminal gang, in which Donna must think quickly to save the day. However, personal ramifications threaten to jeopardise the job she loves. Meanwhile, Carl is given a disturbing insight into his boss's personal life when he and Felix investigate the disappearance of a teenage girl. But when Carl returns home, his wife has an even bigger surprise in store for him.

I'm not really into sharing my opinion but this show deserves a very positive acclaim. Cuffs is a breath of fresh air from all the usual crime shows you see around (specially Americans). It gives you all you need from this genre without all the moral lessons and puritanisms usually present in other shows. Themes like Race, Sexuality, Mental Disorders, Drug Abuse and others are portrayed in a real way, leaving all the judgments (or lack thereof) for the viewer.
