'Dexter' Prequel Gets Animated - Featured

Dexter 's fourth season isn't the only thing to watch out for this fall. As reported previously, Showtime will be creating an animated prequel of its dark hit series, which will kick off on the network's website simultaneously with the show's new season. The webisodes, which was announced at San Diego Comic-Con International 2009, will consist of 12 installments and will be entitled Early Cuts. If you're an avid fan of the TV series, then you already have an idea of what caused Dexter to be emotionally divorced from the rest of humanity. And as Dexter rediscovered his origins (he and his older brother Brian witnessed their mother's murder and were left in a freight cargo box filled with blood for days), his sociopathic behavior gradually unveiled under the tutelage of his adoptive father Harry, who in turn presented him with a sort of "code of ethics," which serves as a rule that he should only kill killers in order to satisfy his urges, as well as a guide to cover his tracks. But we've only seen bits and pieces of how Dexter honed his skills as a teen. And since Early Cuts will serve as a prequel, viewers left in the dark on how Dexter Morgan turned out to be a serial killer will hopefully gain a better understanding of Dexter's complex character. Early Cuts, which explores the early days of Dexter's craft and evolution, will be voiced by Michael C. Hall to give it a more authentic experience. I'm not really a fan of webisodes but since Hall is doing the voice-overs for his character, it might be worth checking out. In addition to the animated prequel, Showtime has a special application for iPhones called Dexter: The Game, as well as action figures of your favorite Dexter characters. "When I was shooting the pilot, I didn't think it would come to this," lead star Michael C. Hall said during the show's packed panel. Dexter returns for its fourth season on September 27 on Showtime. Dexter's Baby Spills the 'Blood' in New Promo

A short but right-at-the-spot promo of " Dexter " was aired on Showtime . It shows Dexter and his gleeful baby during feeding time with red food, which almost resembles blood, spilling all over the place. The tagline "Not his usual mess" bears the right pun for Dexter's job as a serial killer. "Dexter" is premiering September 27 before another season premiere of "Californication". This time Dexter is dealing with fatherhood, which forces him to go to the drugstore even if he is in the middle of a killing mission. He takes residency in the suburbans with Rita and her kids, leading a seemingly normal life. Although coming a notch lower, Dexter's life will be made more complicated with the arrival of a new villain calling himself Trinity. John Lithgow, who takes the role, said during San Diego Comic-Con International , "I can't tell you anything about this marvelous character, but he has many layers and colors." His first victim would be High Commander Dick Solomon. It was also announced during the convention that there would be 12 animated webisodes titled "Earl Cuts" which is narrated by Michael C. Hall to be released this Fall. It will chronicle the time Dexter learns how to be a serial killer. Source & Promo

Dexter: Michael C. Hall Talks About Season 4 & Webisodes - Featured

"Can I have it all?" Dexter tells his first season 4 victim before killing him, and in his interview with Entertainment Weekly, Dexter star Michael C. Hall reaffirms this premise of the upcoming season, set to kick off on September 27. Following Showtime's release of the dark comedy's trailer for season 4 recently, Hall maintains that it's going to be "tough" for the new father cum blood splatter analyst cum serial killer. "A lot of sleep deprivation. I think the idea was one thing, but the reality of being a suburban family man and maintaining an allegiance to his dark passenger is for Dexter proving to be daunting, at times overwhelming, at times reprieved, but something's gotta give." That something, says some critics, is still hard to figure out at this point, when the team behind Dexter is still in the middle of production. Most, however, are expecting a lot from John Lithgow, who is set to play the main villain in Dexter season 4. Walter Simmons, the Trinity Killer is described as "the most prolific serial killer ever" or "the most successful serial killer to ever get away with it." Hall, for his part, says that Dexter is "definitely fascinated" and that his competitive juices are "stoked" especially after hearing how the Trinity Killer is characterized. "They're on a bit of a collision course right now," teases Hall. Lithgow, 63, is a multiple Emmy-winner and is best known for his role as Dr. Dick Solomon on the NBC sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun . Hall also confirmed that he recently did some voice-over narration for Dexter's animated webisodes, following the serial killer's life prior to the pilot. The first one, for instance, will focus on the first time he "collects the trophy" of his first kill. Source Here

Comic Con 2009: Trailer of 'Dexter' Season 4 Shared - Featured

A new trailer of " Dexter " was shared during the 2009 San Diego Comic-Con International on Thursday, July 23. Presented before the panel was started, the new footage serves as the promotion to the fourth season. It shows the changes within Dexter as he juggles his newly-found experience as a father, and John Lithgow appearing as the new villain, The Trinity. In the trailer, Dexter is seen rocking his baby and says to him softly, "Wanna know a secret? Daddy kills people." It continues with Dexter living an apparently normal life on the suburbans with Rita and her kids. "Dexter Morgan has everything he wants, except the one thing he needs...time to kill," so the caption is read. Glimpses of Trinity and how he is about to kill a boy's mother were then shown. Lithgow came in support of the panel, talking more about his character including spilling that he has not shared screens with the rest of the stars Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter and Julie Benz who also attended the panel. "We've done five episodes now," he said. "I still lurk and stalk .. I haven't worked with any of these people yet. I can't wait to have scenes with them." He talked more about Trinity, saying "On 'Dexter' I play a serial killer and his first victim is High Commander Dick Solomon. ...I can't tell you anything about this marvelous character, but he has many layers and colors." Hall then took time to answer some questions including whether his baby has the tendencies to inherit his serial killer blood. "The baby has yet to exhibit any signs," Hall said. "It's possibly there, lurking." One interesting clue of what to expect from the future 12 episodes came from Lithgow. He said, "I'm the only person on the set who knows what's going to happen in all 12 episodes. I could speak two sentences right now that would make this entire building explode." "Dexter" panel at this year's Comic Con was one of the biggest ones held at Ballroom 20. Shortly before the session was run, it was announced that there would be 12 animated webisodes titled "Earl Cuts" which is narrated by Hall to be released this Fall. It will chronicle the time Dexter learns how to be a serial killer. Source & Trailer Here
