'Don't Trust the B----': Is the B-word in show titles OK?

ABC's "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" made its debut Wednesday (April 11) night, and as the Associate Press points out, no one could imagine seeing the N-word in a title but apparently the B-word is A-OK. Further evidence: ABC's other B-word show, "GCB," is based on Kim Gatlin's book "Good Christian B------," though, according to ABC, the B stands for "belles."But "Don't Trust the B----" isn't about the late '90s reclamation by women of the derogatory term, because Krysten Ritter's Chloe actually is, well, a b----."It's very clear that she's actually a sociopath," Andi Zeisler, co-founder and editorial director of B---- Magazine, tells the AP. "It's not like here's a strong, confident woman and she's head b---- in charge. She's actually a sociopath and she treats people horribly."And just for a little history lesson on the B-word: Insulting a woman by calling her a female dog reportedly pre-dates the B-word itself. 'Don't Trust The B In Apt. 23': Using Your B---- For A Good Cause

HuffPost TV's Maureen Ryan took a look at several episodes of " Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23 " (9:30 p.m. ET on ABC), and used phrases like "moderately amusing" and saying creator Nanatchka Khan "gets a reasonable amount of comedy" out of the premise in her review . She felt the overly broad supporting cast was problematic, but James Van Der Beek as himself provided some of the strongest humor. ABC clearly has faith in it, giving it the plum "Happy Endings" time slot after "Modern Family." In this premiere episode, naive Midwesterner June gets bilked out of all her money by Chloe, who convinced her to move in with her and then proceeded to do everything she could to get her to move right back out -- no refunds! It's a ploy she's apparently used several times, including with the neighbor who's obsessed with her. But when June stood up to her by selling all of her furniture, she earned Chloe's respect. And so Chloe decided to user her powers of b---- for good. After finding out June's fiance was cheating on her, Chloe orchestrated June walking in on him trying to sleep with Chloe to convince her he was bad news. And James Van Der Beek as James Van Der Beek. Dawson is in the house! "Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23" airs Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. ET on ABC. http://feeds.huffingtonpost.com/~r/HP/Entertainment/~3/RsE91XXsKBM/dont-trust-the-b-in-apartment-23-heart-of-gold-video_n_1419704.html

'Apt 23' Producers on Sex, Drugs and James Van Der Beek

If the title of ABC's upcoming comedy  Don't Trust the B----   in Apt 23  is any indication, producers  Nahnatchka Khan  and  David Hemingson  are prepared to push the boundaries of what's acceptable on broadcast television.  In a bid to portray what Khan calls "real life," the network’s ensemble comedy will not shy from showing a twentysomething's world of drugs, alcohol and one-night stands. Proof: In the show’s very first episode, series bad girl  Krysten Ritter  is caught messing around with her roommate’s ( Dreama Walker ) fiancé -- on her birthday cake.
