Downton Abbey Season 5 Spoilers: Details on THIS New Character!

Downton Abbey may currently be filming its fifth season over in the United Kingdom, but unfortunately that doesn’t mean we’re getting the kind of top-grade spoilers we so desperately crave after watching the Season 4 finale earlier this week. When news does make the long trip overseas, it typically comes in crumbs. One such spoiler-y morsel? In Season 5, we’ll meet a new character named Simon Brickner, who U.K. channelITV reveals will be “a guest” of the family. In fact, the actor playing... http://feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/6MBgBLx8YQQ/2014-02-27-season-5-new-character-spoilers

Downton Abbey Season 5: The Dowager Countess Set to Return!

We’ve been worried for months now that the Dowager Countess (Maggie Smith) would go the way of Lady Sybil and Matthew Crawley. That is to say, bid adieu to Downton Abbey for new projects further afield, an outcome made all the more likely considering Maggie just turned 79 last December. Show creator Julian Fellowes seemed to know our deepest fears (how does he do that?!) and gave the Dowager a bad case of the flu during Season 4. She’s made of stronger stuff than fictional illness, however,... http://feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/01AVs8hrqYo/2014-02-26-season-5-dowager-countess-returns

Downton Abbey Season 4 Finale Beats Season 3’s End in Ratings!

Downton Abbey Season 3 may have gone down in history as blowing up Twitter on Christmas Day one of TV’s most unexpected season endings, but it’s got nothing on the conclusion of Season 4. We say that not because anything nearly as devastating took place during the finale, which aired on February 23 in the U.S. Actually, we found the two-hour episode rather subdued after the rollercoaster of a season the fourth installment has been. No, when we talk about history, we’re talking about ratings... http://feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/v75KA3kpUps/2014-02-25-season-4-finale-ratings-record

Grab the smelling salts! The Dowager Countess is going to faint when she sees her eldest granddaughter strutting around in a short skirt! Michelle Dockery, who plays eldest Crawley daughter Mary on Downton Abbey, recently flaunted her super long legs at a press event, showing the world what she’s been hiding under Downton’s traditional long skirts. 'Downton Abbey' Season 5: Will Gregson come back? 'I hope so!' says Laura Carmichael

One of the most dramatic storylines of "Downton Abbey" Season 4 was Lady Edith (Laura Carmichael) becoming pregnant and giving up her baby for a secret adoption in Switzerland, then choosing to go back to get her infant daughter in the season finale. Carmichael took part in an online chat Monday (Feb. 24) with "Downton" fans, where she teases what's to come in Season 5 with Edith, plus a few other fun tidbits about the show. Q: "Do you think Mr. Gregson will reappear? I was so happy that Edith found love."Carmichael: "I hope so! Only [Julian Fellowes] knows for sure. Gregson is a great character. I loved working with Charlie Edwards."Q: "At the end of episode 8 she seemed to really take control of her life, I hope she continues in this mode - do you enjoy playing her when she has a little more gumption?"Carmichael: "Yes. She was incredibly brave in Season 4.... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/02/downton-abbey-season-5-will-gregson-come-back-i-hope-so-says-laura-carmichael.html

'Downton Abbey' Season 4 finale ratings up over Season 3 finale but down from Season 4 premiere

"Downton Abbey" continues to be an enormous hit for PBS. Its Season 4 finale earned an average of 8.5 million viewers and a 5.4 household rating, which puts it in second place among the broadcast networks. "Downton" was beaten only by the Winter Olympics closing ceremony on NBC. The finale was up slightly from the Season 3 finale a year ago, though it was down nearly 2 million from the Season 4 premiere. While Season 3's ratings grew from premiere to finale, Season 4's dipped. It remains to be seen what kind of numbers Season 5 earns, but 8.5 million for Sunday's (Feb. 23) broadcast is still a solid showing."Downton" executive producer Gareth Neame says of the success, "We are absolutely thrilled that U.S. audiences have again followed 'Downton' so loyally throughout Season 4. The series launched with record ratings and continued to perform incredibly strongly throughout the run, and for a British drama to... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/02/downton-abbey-season-4-finale-ratings-up-over-season-3-finale-but-down-from-season-4-premiere.html
