Athletes and doctors clash in this sports-medical drama about a young orthopedic doctor and the numerous athletes she meets at the Taereung National Village. Taereung is where all the Olympic athletes train, and only the best of the best make it there. Park Ji Heon (Jung Gyu Woon) is a judo athlete past his prime, but determined to get in and win a gold medal. Dr. Kim Yeon Woo (played by the winning Kim So Yeon of Prosecutor Princess and IRIS) thinks treating athletes is too beneath her skill level, but a disagreement with her former mentor forces her to work at Taereung. She clashes with Ji Heon's stubbornness and tries to please her cranky boss, Director Lee Do Wook (Uhm Tae Woong of Queen Seon Duk). Lee Do Wook brings to Taereung his own set of baggage: a crippled leg from a sports injury years ago and a bitter romantic past with the current swimming coach Kang Hee Young (Cha Ye Ryun). Dr. Champ is a wonderful slice-of-life drama that shows the struggles of athletes as they try to achieve their dreams, and the doctors who are just as important in helping them fulfill those goals.
