An explorer travels the globe searching for the truth behind the world's most iconic legends.
An explorer travels the globe searching for the truth behind the world's most iconic legends in this series, which begins with host Josh Gates investigating the mystery of Amelia Earhart's disappearance during visits to Papua New Guinea and Fiji.
Oh silly, wonderful Josh! You always make me laugh and satisfy my pangs of history-dorkdom. About one episode in, it is very clear that Mr. Josh created this show to be paid to travel to cool places and do rad stuff. On that front, well done!! (and yes, I am super jealous.) But do not expect this show to be anything more than adventure fluff-light, which it is, and for that reason, it's just fun, plain and simple. The premise is that he travels to exotic locales to solve old mysteries, like finding the Ark of the Covenant or Excalibur because hey, why not?! Unsurprisingly, he never really finds anything but has a hell of a lot of fun while he's looking which means you will too. The artificial suspense they try to create in each show is so bad, it's funny. WHAT will they find behind that big door/old timey box/creepy shadow/moss covered rock?!! You'll find out after the commercial break! Spoiler alert: it's nothing. Just to let you know, for every show, it's always nothing. They find nothing. :) But you watch them find nothing in lots of wonderful places you wish you could visit and all with a genuinely funny host. Best for easy laughs in the background while you are making dinner or something to watch when you are nursing a hangover on the weekend, light and a dependable good time.
