I'm going to focus on what I hate about this show instead of what I like, because I'm hoping the writers may pay attention to fans and fix the problems. Yet again, Madison makes no sense. Nick is probably the most equipped person to survive this apocalypse, and yet she wants to treat him like a child. That would be fine if we didn't know that Nick just disappeared quite often before all this to go on benders. Madison basically had given up him, as she said. Now she thinks she can control him? She just refuses to learn, and that lack of character growth makes her a liability for both the show and the survivors. Alex and Travis has the most awkward conversation I've ever seen on TV. She goes from basically telling him that she asked for him to be kidnapped (presumably so she can get revenge on him from her tone) to sharing emotional thought-hugs with him about what they've lost since the world fell apart and pondering whether they can get it back...obviously the writers are planning for her to join the main crew, but is this really the best way they can write that in? Come on. And Alicia and Jack atop the boat. Did he really just try to convince her that the people who just came to rescue her after killing half his crew are going to abandon her? That he, who kidnapped her and left her family to be murdered by a pyscho, is a better choice for companion than her blood relatives who have done nothing to indicate that they would ever betray her? I suppose I can forgive that bad writing because let's just call Jack an obsessed creepy idiot. I've met some of those in real life, so okay. You can have it this time, but it's still bad writing and not a strong indicator of future quality. It's like they wanted him to be "good" but still on the "bad" guys' team. If he wanted her to stay, he could have just, you know, kidnapped her...again. Would have been far more reasonable and better plot for the next episode. 3.5 stars because stuff finally happened in the last two episodes, but it wasn't good enough to give me hope that the next episode will be great.
