'Fringe' Season 5 Scoop: Anna Torv & Josh Jackson Tease Final Season

For "Fringe," the beginning of the end is almost here, but stars Anna Torv and Joshua Jackson are ready to enjoy the ride for this fifth and final season (premieres Fri., Sept. 28, 9 p.m. ET on Fox). I caught up with Torv and Jackson -- after the whirlwind of their final Comic-Con and the first three days of shooting the final season of "Fringe" -- to find out what they could tease about this season's adventure to the future and who we might see again. Their answers (while totally tight-lipped and non-spoilery) are juicy little tidbits and puzzles for the hardcore "Fringe" fans to unravel. Who do you think will return for this last season? We assume we'll see more of Henry Ian Cusick's character introduced in episode 419, "Letters of Transit," but what about older friends? 'Fringe' says goodbye: Has FOX regained respect from genre fans?

Year after year, "Fringe" fans have rallied behind the show -- and one of them has been FOX President of Entertainment Kevin Reilly. In January, Reilly told the press that "Fringe" has lost money for the network -- and yet, he renewed it for a thirteen-episode fifth and final season this year. At Comic-Con last week, Showrunner Joel Wyman expressed gratitude to Reilly and FOX for supporting the show despite its less-than-ideal Nielsen data. Indeed, it's rare for a series to get a "final season" to wrap up its stories, and the entire "Fringe" team (as well as the fans) appreciate the opportunity to bow out gracefully. On Monday, Reilly noted that he hopes the network's support of "Fringe" helps shift attitudes about FOX among the genre fans. After canceling series like "Firefly," "Dollhouse," And "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," FOX has developed a negative reputation among genre fans."Fringe has had a particular fanbase," Reilly says.... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/07/fringe-says-goodbye-has-fox-regained-respect-from-genre-fans.html

Josh Jackson talks 'Fringe' Season 5: Will fans be satisfied with the ending?

The cast of "Fringe" attended Comic-Con this weekend for one last hurrah before they head to Vancouver to work on the final season -- and for once, executive producer J.H. Wyman has told the actors how the story ends. Zap2it spoke with Josh Jackson after the emotional panel discussion -- and he said that while he's thrilled with how the story ends, he doesn't presume that everyone will feel the same. "Am I satisfied? Yes," he says. "Do I think the audience as one monolithic block will be satisfied? No, because that's never the case. I happen to love the end of 'The Sopranos'; I was in a distinct minority. I mean, we all know about the ending of 'Lost' - so not everybody will be satisfied."The passion of the fans, and even their occasional discontent, is part of why Jackson loves working in television."Part of the beauty of a long form TV story is... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/07/josh-jackson-talks-fringe-season-5-will-fans-be-satisfied-with-the-ending.html

'Fringe' Season 5 talk at Comic-Con 2012: 'This is our final journey together'

On the final day of San Diego Comic-Con 2012, Warner Bros. presented the final "Fringe" panel in the enormous Hall H -- and of course, Zap2it was on the scene to get all the scoop you need from Anna Torv, Josh Jackson, Jasika Nicole, John Noble, and executive producer J.H. Wyman. Here's what you need to know from the panel:They won't start filming Season 5 until next week, but the exclusive reel played for fans did show new footage. Wyman had asked the actors to return to shoot video for the trailer, which was also used to convince FOX to give them the final 13 episodes. Wyman confirms that this season will take place entirely in the future, beginning the day after the "Letters in Transit" episode. Torv noted that she was relieved to have said goodbye to "Bolivia," because this year, she can focus only on Olivia, who she feels is a more rewarding... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/07/fringe-season-5-talk-at-comic-con-2012-this-is-our-final-journey-together.html

Joshua Jackson: I know how 'Fringe' ends

"Fringe" will have its biggest Comic-Con stage ever on Sunday (July 15) when the cast and producers greet fans in the San Diego Convention Center's massive Hall H. And it's likely just about all those fans will want to know about the show's ending. They can ask series star Joshua Jackson -- because he says he knows where "Fringe's" final season is headed."My show being what it is, I can't tell you, but we have a really distinct ... and very cool wrapping up of the entire series," Jackson tells The Hollywood Reporter in a pre-Comic-Con roundtable with several other actors. That's something of a surprise, as in the past the "Fringe" powers that be tended to keep story details secret, even from the cast. Jackson says showrunner J.H. Wyman "has been kind of shockingly forthcoming, because our show is usually pretty impenetrable. But this is the last year, and I guess it's a new leaf. He... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/07/joshua-jackson-i-know-how-fringe-ends.html
