Girl Meets World Finale: Riley’s Friends Say Goodbye

News has been swirling around that Girl Meets World is ending the show in its entirety. Actually it’s pretty much inevitable but that doesn’t stop fans from hoping they can muster up one more season. Still though, from the looks of it, the season and probably series finale this Friday is shaping up to be a show closer. The photo above is a first sneak peek at what Friday’s episode might entail. According to TVline, who obtained the picture: Before the Girl Meets World gang says goodbye during Friday’s series finale (Disney Channel, 6/5c), Cory’s surprising his students with one last "history" test. While his wife decides whether or not to move their family to London, Cory asks Riley and her friends to recall some of the biggest landmarks in their lives — and to see how they might help to predict what’s still to come. Girl Meets World Recap: London Calling

Weve done everything! Wouldnt it be a sad situation if that were true? Maya and Rileys exchange at the top of Fridays Girl Meets World the last episode to air before next weeks series finale was, to them, just part of another existential crisis being expressed attheir ultimate safe space, the bay window. Girl Meets World Review: We’re All Gonna Be Stars!

Now that Season 3 of Girl Meets World has officially wrapped production, I’m as enthusiastic as anyone for there to be a Season 4 renewal (with a few provisos). This is a show that teaches important lessons, but occasionally splits its emotional focus a bit. By the end this week the lesson was confusing, and certain endings felt like they should be a continuation to come. Who knew an episode which started off with Maya committing a felony would go off track? In order to get her mother a part in a film, Maya commits a teensy weensy little felony. Not that famous actress Anastasia isn’t treated very well kidnapped and strapped to a radiator in Maya’s bedroom. The girls get her a fountain and everything. Little do they know that Anastasia’s real name is Bobby Jo, and she turns out to be Katy’s childhood best friend. Now they could let Bobby Jo/Anastasia go at this point, but Katie is perfect for the role of "struggling single mother who works as a waitress dreaming of stardom". Thanks very much to Riley and Maya’s classmate for giving her director father the screenplay of Maya’s life. This is very true to Hollywood. Ideas get stolen, chewed up, rewound, and regurgitated constantly. If you have an idea you absolutely can’t live without, maybe don’t tell anyone about it. READ MORE...

Girl Meets World Review: The Teenage Rebellion Begins

For three seasons Riley Matthews has pretty much been the perfect child. She respects her parents, doesn’t cause trouble, and even the few times that she has allowed herself to straw she would fess up. Cory and Topanga have considered themselves lucky, but teenage rebellion isn’t something any parent can avoid. This week Girl Meets World tackled the inevitable parental task of ‘crime and punishment’ when your child decides to rebel. The stage which causes the rift between mother and daughter isn’t as important as the semantics used to resolve the situation. They were almost more impressive than Auggie’s attempts to be the good child in the face of his sister’s outburst. READ MORE...

Girl Meets World Review: Halloween, Part 3

Once upon a time, girl met her best friend, then met the world. But what if she didn’t? In the series’ third Halloween themed installment, Girl Meets World imagines what would have happened if Riley and Maya had never become friends. Suffice it to say, terrifying doesn’t even begin to cover it. This world is disturbing, and yet, the alternate reality makes sense in a way that isn’t too over-the-top. It all starts when the kids tell Cory they won’t be celebrating Halloween this year. They’re in high school now, too old and mature for Halloween and trick-or-treating. To that I say poppycock, and luckily Cory agrees. Welcome to this week’s lesson, Chaos Theory! For those of you who didn’t study it in high school, or haven’t watched an episode of The Flash lately (Barry Allen is not my favorite person these days), it’s the theory that one small change can have massive ripple effects for future events. Every theory must have supporting evidence, so let’s postulate what would have happened if on an ordinary day, little Riley had not left her window open for little Maya to come through. Riley would have been nauseatingly chipper, Maya would have been a goth girl, Farkle would never have left behind the turtle necks, Lucas would be a full on Desperado, Zay never would have come to New York, and Smackle never would have come out of her shell. Worst of all, Cory never becomes Feeny 2.0! No life lessons, no getting involved in his student’s lives, just dates and figures. What kind of history class is this? Bottom line, everyone is lonely and doesn’t know any better. READ MORE...

Girl Meets World Review: Lost and Found

We all have favorite childhood memories associated with that one childhood toy we couldn’t live without. All good things must come to an end, so at some point we all have had to let our toys go. It was a step towards saying goodbye to childhood altogether. Girl Meets World has had a consistent theme this season that the kids are growing up. This week a bear takes on a key role in that journey, but was this part of the journey completely necessary? Maya and Cory’s mission for tacos is postponed due to the Case of the Missing Teddy Bear with No Face. The bear represents Riley’s childhood, even though it’s been hanging on by a thread for years. No one really has a valid excuse for not helping to look for the bear, so everyone is roped into helping look for the faceless stuffed animal. It’s really hard to turn down a sad Riley when she explains how early on she would hug the bear so that she wouldn’t miss her parents when they were at work. When nothing else works a guilt trip always does. READ MORE...

Girl Meets World Review: Riley Finally Faces the Harsh Truth

From the day we met her Riley Matthews has been a little ray of sunshine. Her innocence isn’t a bad thing considering how easily life events strip it away from everyone. However the time has finally come for Riley to grow up. Riley may be a bouncing ball of positive energy, but the outside world isn’t that way at all, and the time has come for her to realize that. This week it’s not just a case of Girl Meets World, it’s Girl Meeting the Real World. That means good, bad, and everything in between. For someone like Riley its best to ease into serious conversations. She always likes to look on the bright side, always thinks people are good deep down and things will work out. Her never ending faith has proved to be a source of strength for her friends. It’s why Lucas was drawn to her, it’s why Farkle could lean on her during his low self-esteem days, and why Maya now has faith in her new family. The problem is that while Riley’s positive attitude has changed her own world, it can’t change the whole world, the dark sides she has been shielded from. ‘The Riley Committee’ decided long ago that Riley should be protected from knowing certain things she wasn’t ready to hear. That has to change now. READ MORE...

Girl Meets World Review: Happily Ever After

For a Boy Meets World fan from way back, this is such an emotional night. Once Upon a Time Shawn Hunter believed that he couldn’t catch up to his best friend Cory’s happiness. Now on Girl Meets World he has finally found it, and makes it official in "Girl Meets I Do". It’s another special episode for Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World fans, and is probably one of the most special moments in the history of both shows combined. Not to mention, there was one surprise guest star the occasion was sure not to leave out. READ MORE...
