For nearly 20 years, self-proclaimed hillbillies and expert hand fishermen Skipper Bivins and Jackson have welcomed city slickers into the rural folds of Oklahoma, taking them on the adventure of a lifetime – to catch catfish with their bare hands and feet. Also known as handfishing, noodling is a type of fishing where tackle or bait is not used; instead, noodlers coax the catfish to bite on to their bare hands and feet to ‘hook’ the fish. All the while, noodlers must beware of snakes, beavers, muskrats and snapping turtles. The process can certainly make you squeamish – especially if it’s your first time at it! That’s how it is for 30-something best friends Staci and Shelly, who hail from Boston. These sassy pals are looking forward to gaining a new perspective on how Oklahoma hillbillies live, both in the water and around the campfire. The ladies hope that noodling will be the perfect adventure to get them out of their comfort zones. Tyler travels with his sister, Devon, from Anaheim, California, to embark on their noodling adventure. Devon is terrified at the thought of what they’re about to do, but this athletic duo in their 40s can’t wait to say “boo ya” to their fears and grabble some catfish! Chicago police officers Tony and Dan, 31, are tough guys and muscle men who won’t back down for anyone—criminals or catfish; while Dan thinks Tony will shriek like a girl if he gets bit, that won’t stop either of them from giving HILLBILLY HANDFISHIN’ his best shot.
