For most people, walking blindly into muddy water with snakes, muskrats and snapping turtles in hopes of grabbing a catfish might seem like a nightmare, but for Skipper Bivins and Jackson, noodling is a way of life. Skipper and Jackson give groups of city slickers a taste of hillbilly livin’ by guiding them through the paces of noodling catfish without tackle or bait. No adventure is too crazy for 50-something Tony and his son- in-law, Nick, 39. Both are from Staten Island, New York, who are often found camping, motorcycling and vacationing together. Now, they are ready to add handfishing to the list! Now that they’ve learned that noodling is about catfish (not pool toys), the pair is looking forward to learning the wild sport from Skipper and Jackson, and they hope to teach them a few things in return, such as showing them how to do an Italian-style catfish fry with their secret recipe. Six feet under will take on a whole new meaning for 52-year-old funeral director Ken and his girly-girl daughter, Natalie, 16. Hailing from Lowell, Indiana, the duo is looking forward to one last bonding experience before Natalie heads to college in the fall. Ken hopes that Natalie, or “noodle” as he calls her, will be able to get over her fears and stop googling “death by catfish” before their big trip. Also seeking adventure are happily married snowbirds John and Valerie, who hail from White Plains, New York, and Sarasota, Florida. After white water rafting, parasailing and skydiving together, this active couple is excited to walk on the wild side once again. An older couple, John and Valerie have spontaneity and willingness to push boundaries, making them feel half their age!
